not tring to start stuff, but i was talking about the 03 ->04 transition. 04-05 cars are the same with the exception of minor details. don,t get the panties all bunched up.

correct subaru did a running change halfway though the 04 year.if you look up rotors for a 04 they ask witch bolt patteren you have, the larger of the two patterens means that your car was built later in the year with the better oe upgrades.

What if a vehicle was completely new (as in, never made before)? Would the June cutoff apply?

yes, within reason. some car manufactors are getting away with early builds.the u.s. does give some leway, but 06/0? is the rule of thumb that all aftermarket companies go by.

Wow, Ford must have pulled a fast one when they rolled out the 2001 Ford Explorer Sporttrac. The first units hit dealerships in 3/00 and must have been built in 1/00 (I know mine took 8 weeks to get). They did something similar with this latest incarnation of the Mustang.

Just be careful using such finite terms. Whitepony's (and other's) STi and other manufacturer's recent introductions definitely don't follow your rule/standards.
