Scars are good long term evidence. The fingernail is usually what saves me. Most of the time sharp blades slow down when it hits the nail.

i have a nasty scar on my thumb from where i met the bone with a razor knife while installing flooring...got a nice set of stiches and a permenent ridge in my thumbnail where the blade scarred the base of my nail where it starts to grow...

that reminds me of a time when i was like 12 when i almost cut the the top half of my left thumb off while i was cutting sum sour dough bread... it sliced about 1/2 way thru it then i felt a sharp pain and saw gobs of blood shooting out my thumb.. no bueno, i have a scar going thru my finger print on my left thumb

I took the bandage off to look at it today... and needless to say, wife is taking me to the doc. I'll let you know how it goes. yucky.
