you don't pay 1 cent more if you lose a trial by written declaration. you simply get either a re-trial, or you pay the original fine.
if it was really a $20 violation like the fee for driving in the bike lane is listed as I would just pay it and go about my day. I have issues with the fact that after all the city / county / state / court / etc fees are added on it's now a $145 ticket. that's just whack...

ticket came today for $214, which is funny because the sacramento county website lists it as a $20 base fine and a total bail fee of $145. not sure where the other $70 came from...
so a 970% markup on top of the $20 fine is somehow ok? i'll be fighting this for sure. i have literally gotten tickets for traveling at triple digit speeds that cost less than this.
oh, and sac county now wants the bail fee paid up front even in trial by written declaration. maybe i'll get an IOU back if i win.

Car Info: This aint a bag. It's a shipment.
Sometimes the fog line/bike lane line is broken 200 feet before the intersection. Sometimes it's less than 200 feet. Did you cut in right at the break? If so is the line painted correctly? The officer might have used this as indication you were in violation when you actually weren't. Unless you were then carry on.

meh, i'm going to appear in court tomorrow just to see what the whole process is like. i've got the day off anyway, and don't really want to send in a check for them to sit on for 6 months with a written declaration.
any pointers?
