And that car would cruise in 6th gear at 1800 RPM all day... Gotta love the T56...

Did they change the gearing in the STi to where it needs less RPMs for the same freeway speeds as the say 02' WRX or are the ratios the same?

Speaking of GT4, I had a real close battle with a Lotus Elise in my Legacy GT on El Capitan endurance. Won by 0.191s, only because I blocked it on the straight. Running almost the same lap time and pit strategy, wheel to wheel for close to 2 hours. I wish I could've save the replay The only enduro race that wasn't boring.

In all seriousness.... I was just wondering if you always have to get enough rpm to hit the turbo.... Is it bad for the car to short shift a lot?

When driving spiritedly, I try and keep my rpms in a good range, say 2k to 5k or so. When driving normally (for better fuel mileage), I try my best to keep it under 3k or so.

Its not bad to short shift the car any more then it would damage a non-turbo car. Except, that if you shift too soon, your RPMs may drop below your turbo threshold.

correction......... gotta love the viper spec T56, the ones in the cobras arent as freeway friendly as the viper spec ones.

and i too have launched an imprezza 30ft in the air at sears point turn 2 in GT4. wow was that surprising.

Try it with a 300hp Lotus... it clears the fence in front of the stands by about 5 feet. Well, would if it didn't instantly stop like there was Magic Safety Tape there.
