Wondering the same thing. I have a monitored systems - seems like they catch it when it's disabled and start calling. I had an alarm guy out here recently and he indicated that a lot of burglars will chuck a rock through the sliding glass door, so if you don't have motion or glass break detectors, they get in and out with no alarm ever being sent :\
yah the alarm is a loud *** siren inside that hurts like hell on the ears, thats why it got ripped off the wall.it just monitors the windows and doors but this will be change very soon!!! the house is new to me but built like ten years ago, close to garden highway(chevys and stuff close by).

Sac's too big, they need to chop it up into 3 pieces. It makes no sense driving over 20 minutes and still being in the same city. South Sac to Natomas is whack.

But is it monitored in the sense that an alarm company is watching the system for alerts and notifying the police of issues as they arise? My alarm will be loud in the house, but it is immediately notifying the alarm company and they start calling my phone to ask if there's any issue. We have fire monitoring too.

Yep, same here - along with a cellular backup in case the phone lines get cut before they break in. Well worth the monitoring fee in my opinion...

I think he was tryin' to spell "sheister" which wouldn't be entirely wrong since you can spell it both ways... eh whatever.

Anyway, I'm sorry your house was burglarized. It's happened to me before too, and I've had my cars broken into, stolen, everything I owned stolen, etc... I've had quite a bit of bad luck w/ that stuff, so I can definitely sympathize w/ you. I say get a BFG and hire some arnold-lookin dude to sit in your house w/ it, haha

Mike: "Hello ADT, my alarm tripped while I was away on vacation and is showing an error code."

ADT: "Yes sir we detected the alarm tripping and issued the code so you would call us."

Mike: "What happened?"

ADT: "It was indeterminate. We attempted to contact you via the intercom in the system."

Mike: "I was away on vacation."

ADT: "We determined you were not home."

Mike: "Did you attempt to call my cell phone?"

ADT: "No."

Mike: "Did you dispatch the sheriff to investigate."

ADT: "No, we did not. We assumed it was a false alarm."

Mike: "How did you determine that?"

ADT: "By listening in through the intercom feature we determined no one was in the house."

Mike: "My contract states that you are supposed to dispatch the police or sheriff to investigate if the alarm is tripped and you cannot contact me."

ADT: "We believed this to be a false alarm."

Mike: "What if it hadn't been?"

ADT: silence

ADT: "Is there anything else we can help you with today?"

Mike: silence

Mike: "Yes, I'd like to close my account."

ADT: "Sir, let me assure you..."

Mike: "Please close my account. On top of this incident, my monitoring rates have doubled since the system was installed 5 years ago."

ADT: "Sir, what if we cut your monitoring rate from $41.99 per month to only $24.99 per month?"

Mike: "Are you telling me you've been overcharging me for the last 5 years?"

ADT: silence

Mike: "Close the account."

Moral of the story: Alarm monitoring is a scam.

I've had good luck with ADT during the time we've had them, but our alarm hasn't gone off too much.

I don't use ADT. It's some other service. (Protection One I think) Our motion sensor tripped once and Sac Sherrif showed up and checked out the perrimeter.

ADT always seemed like comcast or walmert to me.

PS. Our phones blow up when the alarm is tripped.
