CC was willing to price match the best I found on the internet at $2299 - they had the TV "on sale" at $2699. My only problem with CC is that their 5 year protection plan is $649 whereas everywhere else it's $350-$399. I don't really like those rip off, pure profit for the store plans, but with Plasma I thought it was a good idea. One nice thing was 3 years, zero interest at CC which might make me buy it there as opposed to online.
I did the same thing with sears.

Despite my hatred of everything Fry's, I just bought the Samsung from there. I actually had a very pleasant experience. The sales guy was very knowledgeable and polite. I think it was some sort of psychological warfare to get me to buy there.

And yes Ryan, I got the 58" - smoking deal that I could not pass up.

She'll be here Sunday morning.

Cable goes in Friday afternoon - good riddance Direct TV and your crappy reception!

Now I just have to find a stand that I like, will hold all of my gear, and doesn't require a lot of cleaning.

Huh? You have a dish alignment problem or the wrong cables/multi-switch. Or you are talking about over-the air digital TV signals and you didn't get your locals via the spot beam.

D* FTW.

Direct TV craps out when it is especially windy out or if there is substantial rain. It's been checked out several times and I was told I had to live with it. Signal strength is fine during normal weather.

Wind: Dish is moving or trees are moving into the path of the signal. Check mounting/move dish or trim trees.

Rain: Storms can degrade the signal. It's digital so it's an all or nothing deal. Once you drop too low on teh signal meter you will loose picture. I've only had rain drop my signal once. If it's aimed properly you will still get enough signal for it to produce a picture. Should have high 90's across most transponders on a clear day.

Too late though.

That's too bad about the Directv reception. I had full reception today even with the bad weather...until the power went out

Think you'll be happy with the Samsung. I got the 50" DLP and am stoked. Think I paid close to what you did for your Plasma a couple of years ago...

I've never had a problem with Direct TV.............until the wind today ripped my entire rig out of the chimney. Installed with 6 masonry bolts. Going to be an absolute ***** to fix. Arg.

Mine was cutting in and out all afternoon.

It looks like I may be stuck with Direct TV. My house doesn't have cable run to it from the pole and Wave won't run the coax in the same conduit as my phone line even though there's enough room. The only option they suggested was running overhead, across my pool and yard.

TV came in Sunday and the console came in this afternoon, along with a curio for Terri's stuff.

I'm going to have to move it all over again after the Superbowl since we'll be painting the room and putting in wood floors (carpet is shot). But for now I think it looks pretty good. It will look a lot better once I have HD service (hopefully tomorrow afternoon).
