Good news... bad news...
Okay,
So I just got out of my review meeting with my boss.
GOOD NEWS -
I found out that the rec. has gone through for the opening in the SAC office. They are opening another full-time position and that would mean that I would no longer have to commute 200 miles plus BART for a total of 6 hours traveled minimum per day.
BAD NEWS -
They will not take a transfer. They want to put the position out there. There are already 2 other people interested... one that used to work for us.
ugh. Guess I have to polish up my interview hat...
I don't have a very impressive resume, nor do I have any fancy certifications with corresponding letters behind my name, but I figure I have a couple of advantages:
- I have work in that office a lot and have a good reputation.
- I have a good working relationship with the IT person that already works there.
- I know the systems/programs like the back of my hand.
- I know the "personalities" in the office and how to make them happy.
- I have devoted 5 years to the company.
agh. wish me luck again.

Even if you don't have first dibs, the fact that you work for the company should help (at least a little bit).
You already know the software and the business. They know (hopefully) that you will acclimate to the new office much quicker then anyone else.
Good luck dude.
