I got news for you. Running changes like the brakes don't make it a '00.
99's have a hot film MAF. Besides wondering how you got a 00-01 intake designed for a car with no MAF sensor in the main intake path and MAP sensor in the manifold to fit on a 99 and keep the MAF sensor, any vibration on the 99's with the hot-film MAF will kill them in short order.......like if you install a CAI without the necessary (and preferably additional) bracing and damping.
That's an expensive lesson to learn, man. Sorry.

well I don't kno if its my MAF thats bad. My car is still popping. i'm out of ideas and too tired to keep searching for the problem. i need to take it to a shop who can diagnose the problem. i was thinking of renting one from autozone but I wouldn't know how to pull the code anyways.

they were notorious for blowing out just by looking sideways at them. I have a feeling thats your problem.
take your car to a shop and they can confirm it.

BTW
How long after you touched it, did the car start running poorly?
Did you check all of the hose connections?
Can you, by modulating the gas pedal, get the rpm to increase?
If so, does the car run smoothely in the higher rpm range?
If yes, then you most likely have a vacuum leak after the MAF, or the MAF is toast.
I can get you a new MAF today for $350.

yes, the rpm does increase and when i'm gassing it, the popping noise is gone but as soon as I let go, the noise comes back.
how can i fix the vacuum leak? i'd hope it wont be the MAF since I didn't touch it. didn't kno those things are that expensive tho..i'm gonna hopefully get it checked tomorrow by a shop down the block first jus before i go out and spend some more money repairing it. thanks for all the help. i'd bring it to Paul but he's too far from me. it's not exactly drivable at the moment for long distances.

i'm just gonna bring it in to a shop and have it diagnosed once and for all. the rotten egg smell is definitely there. i'm thinking it has something to do with the fuel...that seems to be the only thing that stands out most. my engine seems to be shaking a little more than usual too...i'll let ya know the verdict of it tomorrow.

i had the same problem on my 05. they found out that the maf was bad and replaced it. 1 week later the problem came back. then i had the wires check and some wires were found to be bad in the engine through the firewall. they fixed the bad wires. 3 days later the problem came back. they then decided to drop the engine and check all sensors. they replaced the sensors before the uppipe. it seemed to have fixed it. not sure if it did or not. didn't drive it since i went back to stock and sold it to carmax. my problem first showed syptoms of high rpm at over 1k. then the sputtering, fuel smell, and loss of power showed up. Cost me a fortune. Hope that you find out whats wrong.
btw only had up pipe, tbe, and snorkel delete.

well I hope it's not the MAF cas that's a pretty expensive part. I hope the diagnostic will show that it just needs adjustments and no new parts. The wierd thing is, it just all happened so suddenly. Well I guess it showed signs of it but i didn't think my car would behave this way. well I hope all goes well tomorrow morning. This is the first time I've had this kind of problem. The only thing I got on the car is a CAI and axel back.
