That is correct. If you were to look at the bracket without the plate mounted, all six holes in the bracket would line-up vertically. However, this was not a problem for me since the front plate was mounted when I bought the car, hence the holes were already in the face of the bumper.

Edit: there are two holes to mount the bracket to the bumper, and four holes to mount the plate to the bracket.

Hopkins license plate frame has got to go. It doesn't move the plate much further up from the stock location. I think I'll leave my plate in the stock location.

Plate frame is from the Acura dealer I work at. Purely personal choice, has nothing to do with the bracket.

Bump for relevance. There's a thread that was created regarding front license plate mounting/usage.

There's like 9 threads discussing the law about front plates... and this isn't one of them.

I thought it would be helpful for people who were persuaded to mount a front plate to their car. It gives them an option over mouting it directly to the bumper, though you still end up putting two screw holes in your bumper cover if your car never had a plate mounted.

That's a pretty clever idea.

However, if a cop is trying to get a lock on your speed and can't because your plate is folded back, he/she might chase you down just for that reason. You might not get a ticket because technically you have a front plate, but the officer will still steal away at least 5 minutes of your life.

The ad copy also mentions that some states do not allow swinging license plate brackets. I don't know if that applies to California or not; I'd check with the CVC book first.

Mistakes happen. I presume that they corrected it when you called them?
