I think with Family Guy they didn't want to start out trying too hard. I was a little dissapointed that they didn't have the old characters like quagmire and Joe or the other neighbors. The characters that did return were VERY obscure ones - that guy at the end (the naked one) is the "naked deaf guy" that they grease up and try to catch at the toy factory company picnics
