nint is projecting 4m units sold by year's end. I would like to think there shouldn't be any supply issues there...
sony on the other hand is hoping for 1m units 'fore year's end. 100k units in japan, 400k announced, numbers are looking closer to 150-200k in NA...

I was at the deli today and was talking to the manager about the Wii or whatever the hell Nintendo is releasing on monday. Does it really play all the old version Nintendo games all the way to gamecube? If so then THAT's what I want. Screw PS3 and the graphics. Make a decent machine at half the price that plays all the games adults remember all the way to modern releases. Adults with jobs and money now. Brilliant.
Can someone explain the Wii to me, please?

not exactly. You dont take your carts that you own and shove them into any port on the Wii, you DL them over nint's online service.
"In addition to these new titles, Nintendo is making the greatest video game archive in history available for download to its Virtual Console. NES games start at 500 Wii Points, Super NES games start at 800 Wii Points and Nintendo 64 games start at 1,000 Wii Points. Sega Genesis games start at 800 Wii Points and TurboGrafx16 games start at 600 Wii Points. Wii Points can be purchased online or at retail at an MSRP of $20 for 2,000 points. Before the end of December, the following titles will be available:
NES -- start at $5
* Mario Bros.
* The Legend of Zelda
* Donkey Kong
* Donkey Kong Jr.
* Ice Hockey
* Pinball
* Soccer
* Tennis
* Urban Champion
* Wario's Woods
* Baseball
* Solomon's Key
SNES -- start at $8
* F-Zero
* SimCity
N64 -- start at $10
* Super Mario 64
Sega Genesis -- start at $8
* Sonic the Hedgehog
* Altered Beast
* Golden Axe
* Columns
* Ecco the Dolphin
* Gunstar Heroes
* Space Harrier II
* Toe Jam & Earl
* Ristar
* Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine
TurboGrafx16 -- start at $6
* Bonk's Adventure
* Super Star Soldier
* Victory Run
* Bomberman '93
* Dungeon Explorer
you can store up to $100 worth of their points to buy games with on a box at a time. The list will add more games over time, and you will need an additional special controller to play anything besides Wii or gamecube games. Basically, if you want something to plug your old carts into, best dig up the old system out of the box from storage
