All those rediculous winning ebay bids are sad. Look at the newly made/zero feedback accounts making these "winning bids"
Sony takes a loss of a little above $240 for every ps3 sold. Honestly I think they dont care, as every one sold puts another Blu-Ray player into anohter house, which is what they want. They're hoping for software/BR movies to make it all up.
That smashed melted ps3 is courtesy of the same guys who smashed a 360 last year, and (countless?) iPods. Awesome stuff.
Overall I hope all the awful news of riots, robberies, muggings, drive-by shootings etc. bring about some sort of change to the console release state of gaming. Or at the very least, make companies think twice about releasing a new platform just before the holidaty season. Has anybody looked at the launch titles for ps3? Talk about ****ty...

Didn't they do it with 360's and iPods as well?
Personally, I like it. People who camp out for electronics are stupid. And I hope the destruction shows just how stupid waiting in line for stuff is.
I mean, I'm a consumer *****, but there is a point of no return that you cross when you start to wait in lines for newest ****.

well, needless to say, the bad pr is still free publicity for sony/ms/nintendo, but I dont think the actual gamers who really want the system, or the parents who are buying it for their kids are going to do the samething for the nex wave of future gen consoles. Short of the scalpers. In which, I say, camp out all you want.
Japan already does the whole limited edition, special feature consoles at a premium price thing. The Panasonic version of the gamecube was a blinged up dvd playing version of nintendo's last gen console, Sega's last darling, the Dreamcast had numerous special edition theme packs / colored theme sets. Sony has like a dozen or more ps2 versions, and even recently released a "platinum edition" ps2 out here in the states. Even the psp gets the treatment with it's Metal Gear Solid Limited Edition, with snake-skin camo styling all over the face.

I'm not a nintendo person, but I have seen previews for PS3 games and 360 offer pretty much everything ps3 does and i didn't have to wait a year to get it, while the wii offers the baddest motion sensitive controllers... I saw a commercial of a ninja game where the guy cross his hands and the swords on the screen crossed, then when he was shooting a gun he turned the controller sideways and the gun on the screen turned sideways gangstaaa style... I'll prob just go pick up the wii instead of spending 700 bucks on sony

I won't be buying a Wii on Sunday, but eventually when I do pick one up, that game will be one of the games I pick up along with it.

The reason i'm considering the wii is it looks like nintendo is jumping away from their ONLY kiddy games, and is going to make some real games for this thing...
I wonder if there will be lines forming tonight for the Wii on sunday? lol
