You'd be a fool not to look into it. The benefits associated with a state job is worth its weight in gold.

The pay may start low but you'd undoubtedly have the opportunity for serious advancement.

Many counties, cities and school districts pay a bit more than the state, but benefits vary, and it is easier to get laid off.

Most have college degrees and all have 3+ years of experience. But you can start lower on the totem pole and move up. Management is required to have an upward mobility plan for all their employees. It's in management's best interest to promote and hire employees, anyway. The more higher level employees the manager supervises, the higher the manager can promote.

But, seriously consider that seminar. That guy has been helping people get hired/promoted in state jobs for years and years.
