Beers on tap
I need serious feedback.
I'm hoping to get a structured response from you guys on what beer I should pick. I tired this last time but the thread sorta turned into a my beer is better than your beer thread.
There's going to be 4 taps open to our discretion. The other two taps will have Coors Light (which sells like mad) and Eye of the Hawk Ale (good microbrew that's contracted with the company).
So I'm hoping you'll give me your 4 favorite beers that pop into your head. Please list them by from most favorite (#1) to least favorite of your favorites (#4). Nothing more, please.
My picks for the remaining 4 taps are:
1) Newcastle
2) Erdinger Weissbier
3) Anchor Steam
4) MGD
Please include the beers i've listed for your list if they're what you had in mind!
FYI, we finally got things worked out with the building process and city red tape. We’re hoping to open within 45days. Once I get a good list i'm going to print this and give it to the decision makers.

okay, i don't drink anymore, and i don't know what style of place you want to have, but i'd def recommend Guiness as one (although you'll have to run a seperate Nitrogen system for it).
also local beers like Jack Russell form ElDo County has some popular brews for a unique factor.
Pyramid has a good Heff...and Oregon Brewing Co has great unique stuff like OR Honey Wheet and Summer Berry Brew.
try to keep one of each of a variety on tap...i never understood those places that had Bud, Bud Light, Coors, Coors Light, MGD and HighLife on tap and fed you a guiness or Heff out of a bottle or can...WTH??!?!?!?
MGD??? IMO i'd def skip that one...
i think if you keep unique stuff on tap you'll draw a better croud...if they want PBR they can get it at the 7-11/AM-PM or order their swag in a can.
i never got into New Castle, but it's popular...
and Anchor Steam has a bitter bite to it that i never liked.
i never tried your second choice, but i'm assuming its a Heff as well by the name.
remember that you want to cater to the widest audience to draw the largest crowd.
a large selection of unique beers will draw regulars for the uniqueness they offer.
just my $0.02....take it or leave it...i don't drink anyways...but i was a beer snob when i did.
*edited for salty*
1.) Guiness - def a neccessity (cus i'm a stout guy)...can cause a big draw on St Patty Day celebrations.
2.) good Heffinweizen - Pyramid i know had a good one
3.) OR Honey Wheat - Summer Berry Brew (could change w/ the seasons)
4.) local rotating feature...like Jack Russell, Sac Brewing, Hoppy, Etc.. if one is a hit you can possibly add it as a long term "keeper".

Cool. Can you re-edit your post and add #1 (most favorite) to #4 (least favorite), please? Thanks for the input, Aaron.
I see what you're saying though... maybe ditch MGD and keep that one open for "featured beers?"

Eric,
I don't drink beer anymore, but my two favorites have always been
1) Anchor Steam
2) Sierra Nevada
For this area, I think Sierra Nevada would be a better seller for you.
I've also been a fan of:
3) Moretti
4) Heinekin

1. Guinness
2. Boddingtons
3. A good pale ale, like Red Hook or Sierra Nevada
4. Personally I love when a place has PBR on tap, nothing beats $2 pints, but if you're looking for the more upscale crowd, myabe a do the rotating special beer.

Actually Gordon is from Palo Alto
Plus Guiness can be difficult becaue you have to get certified by the brewer to serve it.
1. Boddingtons
2. Bass
3. Anchor Steam
4. Widmer Hefeweizen
