Sure, offer the fat kid a cookie. I see how it is
Like I said, this wasn't in response to a single user, just a recent increase in the type of content I was talking about. It's been building, and I've heard feedback from people I've known for quite some time; this isn't a few new guys whining, this is us listening to what people think of the site in the outside world. I'm not blowing up because of reported posts, I'm commenting on larger trends that I've been seeing for months (and that aren't changing). We're never going to make everyone happy, and I don't expect paradise, I just want to dial back all of the personal attacks that just keep escalating (to long-time members as well as from them). It's difficult for us to set an example of conduct for new guys and the community at large if we have stuff running opposite of that intent in our home forum, right?
