Either way, I'd still be in nearly the same position I'm in. At the school I go to I know a mazda master tech who knows everything needed to fix all their minor problems. The 13b isn't hard to rebuilt just time consuming. and mpg will be nearly the same.

I'm not saying ideally I'd like an FD for a dd, it's a badass car. But I'm still banking on the miata plan.

No master mechanic out there will fix a majorly flawed design. It will eat oil, eat tons of gas, and be about as reliable as an abused DSM.

Lets be realistic here: it is the exact opposite of a miata: its expensive, even more so to work on, even more so to upgrade, and is as far away from practical as you can get.

Miata is cheap, cheap to work on, cheap to modify (to a point), and while not very practical (its a 2 seater roadster for pete's sake) it easily gets 30mpg and will run for hundreds of thousands of miles if you don't abuse it and maintain it properly.

The engine is detuned and running at less than half potential, so stuff really doesn't brake much unless you go for big power.

Either way good luck, its your car your choice, just make an EDUCATED decision no matter what it is. It looks to me like you're just day dreaming and really don't know WHAT you want or don't want.

I know exactly what I want. For the longest time I've wanted a 7 and before my GD I was gonna pick one up. The rotary engine isn't a hard engine to work on. Yes it will eat oil and gas, thats the way the engine is. It's just another toy. Either way , like i said I'll still be in the same position that I'm in now spending ****loads of money on something not really necessary right now, just in a different platform.

As for the miata, I know the pro's and con's as well. All I know is that it's time for a change.

why dont you pay off your loans and purchase tools which will make you money (assuming your getting into wrenching). Make the choices that will better your financial situation currently and for the future. Not make choices that keep you in the same financial situation or possibly make it worse. Are making those kinda choices fun? Some say no some say yes. But you will enjoy your quality of life much more being able to do what you want and buy what you want later on down the road.

Turns out that's what's happening. I told them I was tired of waiting for a response on whether or not they wanted to do the trade so i was looking for something else and they got back to me fast. I'll be trading very soon for the miata and having cash in hand to pay off my loans.

Sucks the wrx has to go, but good thing you're getting those loans out of the way. +1

Wrx is actually staying now. I'm trying to fix up my moms Maxima for her right now, and right after that's done. The Miata will be getting a new soft top and I can start building it over time.

Turns out my moms boyfriend who owns the car is willing to pay for the mods since he knows the car needs work done, and he told my mom not to say anything but he'll be giving it to me once it's complete.

I would not be driving a DSM lol. For the meantime, I'm in the search of income so I can start buying more tools and storage and start paying off my loan. Maybe if I get lucky someone will trade me their rs for my wrx and I can use that as my fun car and the miata for DD.
