That's cool...it probably will be less than your deductible to replace the windshield.

What city do you live in, and are you married? Did your premium go up since your last policy renewal (if you had 21st Century as your prior carrier).?

My 6 month premium for my 2004 WRX with 21st century went up by $200 (again) to a total of of more than $1300 for 6 months. I'm a 28 yr old single home owner in a good neighborhood, with a good profession, drive my car less than 12k miles per year, never had any moving violation citations or at fault accidents. I've had 21st century for almost 4 years, had the multiple car and good driver discount, and they still raised my ridiculously high premiums.

I think they did this because of an accident that involved a drunk driver smashing into me and three other vehicles whom I thought didn't have insurance due to the police report. I filed a claim with my insurance company. The drunk driver turned out to have insurance, so 21st honored my claim and pursued a subrogation claim against the drunk driver. My car ended up getting totalled, and I'm sure at least one of the other SUVs involved was going to be totalled, too, and the at fault driver didn't look like he carried a high enough limit for all vehicles involved. So, now I think they've raised my premium to make up for whatever money they may not have recovered through the subrogation. By State law, they must disclose if they've raised my premiums due to the accident, but they said it's due to my car being indexed higher on the ISO. But, now that I compare my premiums to yours, it seems like they've been lying to me.

Oh yeah, just signed up with Progressive and now I'm paying just over $800 with the same coverage. Damn 21st Century.

That sucks. I'm in Orangevale, single, rent, drive about 12K/yr. I've had 21st Century for 2 or 3 years now, and the 6-month premium goes down about $60 every birthday.

Does the outside temp sensor at the top of the windshield have any bearing on the price or is that something attached to rear view mirror?

THe outside temp sensor is not in the window. You are probably seeng the wiring that powers the auto dim/compas/homelink mirror depending on what your car has. As far as I know the outside temp sensor is behind the lower grille on the STi...

They can not raise your premium for something that was beyond your control. Where you live can contribute to it though, and the losses reported on the same vehicle model can do the same.

Last June when I traded in my WRX for the STIi, I was seeing a trend of higher insurance rates on the WRX. My guess is that it was due to younger retards getting their hands on used WRXs and crashing them. FWIW, the STi cost me about $15 a month more than the WRX did and I have not seen any real increase on my policy from State Farm. We pay $390 a month ($2,340 every 6 months) for full coverage (750K per claim and 250 deduct) on the following:

2005 STi
2000 CR-V
1996 Mustang GT (low mileage discount for less than 7,500 miles a year)
15k in personal articles policy - (jewelery/camera gear)
750K in life insurance on me and my wife
