My new car...

HPI nitro RS4 EVO3, 1.2hp with 2 speed.

It came with the "roto start", wich sucked. I went through 3 sets of gears in a day, but now has the tried and true pullstarter from my 1st gen nitro rs4.

Looks fast.

I was into RC cars a long time ago. Had an old Team Assoc RC-10, an old Losi, and a fast micro Skyline I sold to Zoeb about 2 years ago. I once bought gas and had a hell of a time with it. Engine components, fuel, the mess, etc. I much prefer electric for these reasons. Besides, the electric motors they have these days are way powerful enough to have a good time.

But my enthusiasm was short lived for some reason. I'd build the car, race it for a week and never touch it again. My interest rekindles from time to time when i'm browsing the magazine section of bookstores but that's about all... I'd be interested in planes or helicopters but fear the costs of getting into another expensive hobby, and the potential to destroy everything in a blink of an eye.

Yeah, gas cars are pretty tempermental til you get used how to tune them well I got discouraged in the begining, but now that I know more it's a lotta fun. My next car will prolly be electric. My dad bulids planes and has about a dozen or so, crashes are a little less forgiving though, plus with cars you can drive them almost anywhere.

the airplane crystals probably wouldn't work, and if they did it wouldn't work well. it's also against fcc regulations if you get busted (it actually does happen).

honestly, the best solution i've seen so far for never having to deal with radio interference is the 2.4Ghz setup from http://www.spektrumrc.com/ i got one of these over a year ago and have never had another racer at any track interfere with my car. even if you forget to turn your car off it won't go out of control.

I, uh, have a couple cars around.......

Let's see.

1/10th:
RS4 Sport, with a rally conversion around somewhere. 9T double
RS4 MT
Tamiya TA01
Worlds RC10
RC10T
Tamiya Blackfoot
Bolink Digger, around, someplace.
Traxxas T-Maxx with a 24-7 conversion (3hp, when it's actually running, **** nitro)
Tamiya TLT-1 based rock crawler (articulation on solid axles for teh win)

1/18th:
Losi Mini-T, 6-cell, Venom Fireball, all the aluminum goodies.
Losi Mini-LST, big wheels and crap.
Micro RS4, 6cell, coreless, etc.

I think there's an xmod supra, a trick JGTC supra my buddy sent me from Japan, and ore little assorted Subarus and stuff than I can shake a stick at.

I don't have a sickness, right?

I've found that a well charged glo heater (c -cel+), pullstarter, a well tuned carb and clear feul line work wonders. I used to get really frustrated with my cars not starting, but since I've had to troubleshoot just about every problem, I can get just about anything to run well. I have a 6 year old Nirto RS4 that's prolly been through 5 gallons of fuel on the original motor and piston. The only reason it doesn't run right now, is because of a bent header, a fried clutch and a stripped out clutch housing retainer screw.

I ripped my new car around a local parking garage today for about an hour this morning. I need new tires.
