Thank you, very informative, I appreciate it. Been really thinking about it after I read a couple of books again, which I read awhile ago but the ideas never really stuck at the time (Think and grow rich and rich dad, poor dad). Trying to save up, invest, buy some condos in nice places like Miami and Hawaii, and retire early. I used to be real stupid with my money when I was a kid (John), and then one day I spoke to a 45 year old guy (conversation started when I parked next to his new ferrari-although he owned two others) who started to kick down some knowledge on how he went about saving and investing his money, and being smart with his spending, ended up retiring at 42 and was loving it (wish I had met his daughter). Unfortunately, I never really got to pick his brain on what specific investments to make so I'm kinda lost now. It's a slow process, but I think I'll figure it out.

I concur.

Buy the plain-white-wrapper sedan, then do what you want with it as money allows.

$5k doesn't really go all that far when you are buying a project car that starts out at $4k. Since you have some mods already....this might be the better of the two choices.

But if you buy the $9k car, and there is something wrong with it, you won't have the cash to fix it....

Granted....the $9k car is sweet, you wouldn't have to worry about appearance of the car as much as with the white.

Tough call

i would never even consider either because they are both so damn ugly :rotfl: stop talking about the gd chassis!

ok so heres the breakdown (this is what i emailed my dad):

1st one is white impreza you already know about in oregon. 130k miles. extremely clean. we settled at $4000

pic ultra clean interior

2nd one is a 99 impreza RS coupe. its blue and has 109k miles. fairly clean. guy says tranny grinds a little bit when shifting to reverse, but can be fixed with new fluid. has minor dings here and there. car is located in elk grove (20 minutes away) and the guy goes to or went to sac state. according to my research the 2.5 liter engine has some problems later in the mileage such as seals going bad and possibly headgasket failure. how much later is dependant on various things. ~$7000. price is negotiable.

pic

3rd is 99 impreza L sedan. its silver and exterior appears to be pretty clean. interior is absolutely immaculate. has factory wrx engine wiht 8k miles (not a typo) on it. guy says car passed referee inspection in the last 90 days which means it is street and smog legal. car is located in san jose. $9000 not negotiable.

pic
clean *** interior shot...

4th is a 2000 impreza RS coupe located in carmichael (like 5 miles from here). 77k miles. only had 1 medium sized picture of the exterior. looks clean from what i can see. says it has sports package. not sure what that entails. asking $9200 or best offer

too lazy for pictures now. i dont think i really care about this one. lots of money for no reason.
