Brian Lock Reaches Second in Points, Leads Rookie of the Year
Sonoma CA, 8/7/2005 - The US Touring Cars returned this week from the streets of San Jose to the road courses with which they are much more familiar. Infineon Raceway hosted the second half of the only back-to-back weekend on the calendar, and with the San Jose Grand Prix so fresh in people's minds, the drivers were poised for redemption on a track that is home territory for so many of them.
Saturday had no major eventualities for GOTO, and had them sitting in 3rd spot behind Rookie of the Year contender Dale Sievwright after the first qualifying. What most concerned the team was the fact that while Lock had placed the GOTO:Racing WRX only scant hundredths behind Sievwright's BMW, the points leader, Dave Brown, had put his RSX over 2 seconds ahead of both. While confident he could catch Sievwright in the next days qualifying, Lock needed more from the car to have a chance at Brown...
