Wellsboro PA ProRally - Videos and Pics!!!
Went to the Wellsboro, PA SCCA ProRally this weekend. This was my first Rally so it was quite an experience for me. I saw stages 1, 5, and 8. Stage 8 was a night stage.
Nothing quite like driving 20 miles into the forrest and standing in the pitch dark with 200+ people. There was no light until a car came through. Watching those guys fly thru an S curve at night with the disc brakes red hot was nothing short of awsome.
My video and pictures aren't the best but hey...
The video linked here shows two cars, a neon SRT4 2004 and an impreza wrx 2002 drifting around a 90+ degree turn SIDE BY SIDE!!! It says a lot about the driver of the neon which was FWD that he was able to drift just as well as the suby. Hate to say it but the WRX let the neon go around him later down the road. I don't think you'll find this footage anywhere else
(I suggest right clicking and selecting "save as..." on this link)

Here we have an older style impreza ( <2002 ) doing one of the best drifts on the turn all night.

A beautiful shot of an EVO 8 coming around the corner. My wife happened to shoot this picture the same time as 3 other people on the other side (no she wasn't using a flash).

Here's my car after driving 20 miles on muddy access roads thru the Tioga state forrest. I even got brave enough to drift an up hill 90 degree turn while going in. This shot was taken when I got home.

The final scores showed that a 2002 WRX took first place, an EVO took second, and a Neon SRT4 took 3rd. I have a new found respect for the Neon SRT4 cars and their drivers. Those guys were good, and seemed to keep right up with the WRX drivers.
Final note: there was one subaru that flipped and hit some trees, the power steering fluid leaked on to the turbo and the car exploded shortly after. Both driver and co-driver are perfectly fine as they escaped before hand.

I was up with a friend of mine. Awesome awesome experience. I will be attending next year. We were at Colton Point for the late afternoon and night stages. I can't believe how much fun I had watching those guys. I want to see the Subaru Splash next year!
