Inaugural Area 51 Rallycross - Blythe, CA - March 18th

Hello all.

Just wanted to tell you about the first ever Area 51 Rallycross in Blythe, CA we're having on Saturday March 18th. This event will be run under the sanctioning of NASA and more sponsors may sign on soon.

A little about the event:

*Event cost $40.00 per racer

*FIRST PLACE PRIZE (OVERALL): !!!STi Engine and Transmission Mounts valued at $200!!!

*Non-points event

*Food vending and restrooms onsite

The inaugural Area 51 Rallycross being held in 'lovely' Blythe, California is the first in a series of events hosted on a private parcel of land totaling 160acres. Though the course will only be a portion of the total site, there will be plenty of room to stretch car's legs!

The course composition is layers of fine dust and pebbles on a bed of compacted hardpan. The course should not rut and will be groomed in between run groups and watered down with a truck.

Registration will begin at 8:00 AM and the first car will be released on course at 10:00 Drivers will receive plenty of seat time, as 4-5 runs are expected. The course layout will incorporate elements seen in typical rallycrosses, such as Chicago boxes, slaloms, and perhaps wash crossings as well. Clearance will not be an issue for racers, cars with extreme drops may wish to swap out springs prior to the event. Competitors with rally tires are encouraged to bring them.

Access to the site will be explained in the attached linked PDF, as the event is not located the main road. Trailers are welcomed, though caution should be used in accessing site.

I think that getting to the site will be a fun time and it may look daunting, but it is super easy! Have fun with it but please be sure to respect speed limits!

More information and complete directions to get there (in a downloadable PDF) can be found at:
