Ford RS200S? 690hp?
Only 200 ever built and sold as road cars. 0-60mph in 2.01 sec, 0-100mph in 5.2, 1/4 mile in 9.5 at 150mph!! Its a 1.8L turbo 4. HAS anyone seen this before, this is one car that i have never seen atleast.

damn, i've never seen one of those before. it almost looks like a Toyota MR2 -- but with big brass ones and rally tires! i'd have a hard time believing that it'd make 690hp in rally trim though, i'd guess about half that unless it was a pikes peak unlimited class car.

i thought that the WRC had a 300hp limit, but that the teams could tune the engine for as much torque as they wanted. torque and drivability is what's important for rally cars on tight stop and go stages, not peak power.

yeah, torque is unlimited. i think the 206 has something like 500ft/lbs. but i don't remember an actual limit to hp, just the 34mm restictor on the turbo inlet.
about the ford, is it mechanically possible to have 690 hp out of a 1.8t??? those numbers seem like something from a ferrari or porsche...

as for making ~700hp out of 1.8L, it's physically possible, but i couldn't say whether the Ford would be capable of it. keep in mind that F1 cars used to make in excess of 1500hp using only 1.5L, but running massive boost levels. 690hp from 1.8L means you're making about 385hp/liter, which i think is pretty doable these days, but not with great reliability.

C'mon guys.
I'm not much of a rally type of guy. I actually don't like it much but that car was from the 80's. I think it was a group B car but I don't know for sure. I know they made a lot of power but I don't think they made that much, at least the street cars didn't. Maybe the rally cars did.
It was also in GT2 in Fords garage as one of the special cars.

As for the WRC limiting the power. That did not go into affect untill 1987 after most of the group B cars where getting to powerful. OH yeah the car is from 1985 and was produced in Britain with a Cosworth engine.
£100,000 (for a genuine Evolution model with 550 bhp Brian Hart tuned motor). Thats the web page i got it from.
http://www.preromanbritain.com/gwem/...00/history.htm
The engine: 1803cc with up to 600 hp ! Additionally, 20 RS200 Evolution with 2.1 liter engine were produced. The quickest RS200s were awesome: 0-60mph in 3.6 secs, 0-100mph in 8.1, and 0-100-0mph in 13.6 sec

Oh yeah X1_SRT your a dumb As$, how could you say that a 1.8 could never make 690hp, there have been F1 cars since the late 70s that have been putting out twice that.

RS200
The RS200 was built to be a Group B car - just before Group B was eliminated. They built just enough to homologate it...which means it had to be sort of a street car. If it didn't have 600+ hp, it wouldn't have been competitive with the other Group Bs, like the Audi Sport Quattro.

man, i can't imagine trying to control 600+ hp on gravel with the suspension and tire technologies available back then. it's no wonder that the Group B cars were elminated, much like the turbocharged F1 cars. with that much power, they'd just make drivers into great big wet spots if they hit anything.
