FIA announces new WRC rules...yikes!

The rule changes seem a bit strange. I guess the FIA is trying different things so the teams with less of a budget will not get blown off the road by the big money teams and just leave WRC. I love rally but I think next year there will be too many. Rally needs an off season...even if it only lasts about 6 weeks.

The rules will help break down the dominance of the Peugot team. It will cut down on the number of cars, but perhaps with more of a chance to win, other manufactures will be encouraged to throw their hat into the ring.
I LOVE rally racing, I think they're the best drivers in the world. As for the WRC in North America, I think it hasn't made it here because there's no way any safety regulations are going to let cars zoom through the small town streets with fans in the middle of the track trying to get a good picture. I'm a sports car racing fan as well and every race has a fence and a second barrier 10ft away from that. Unless they race in unpopulated areas on a formed track with grandstand seats, I'm not sure how they're going to get it to work.
