"Good" Tint would be (Solar Gard) this is what I use!
I wouldn't pay more than $50 per window when going to a shop.
All Tint after a period of time will turn purple. Solar Gard will take at least 10 years to do so.

Are you familiar with the Quantum tint (solar gard)? Some people say they look good on some cars but on others not so good. They say it has something to do with the reflection. Have you done any on a silver wrx?

Does this help at all?

Thanks Dave,
I have taken my car to a tint shop and they have been trying to convince me to do the quantum tint. They said on some cars it does not look good, but on my silver one it would. I'm starting to lean more towards just the charcoal type. Don't want to be experimenting with anything new. There was a sample of the quantum film on their store window but there was no light hitting it.
Is the HP film the same as True Grey? Do any of the other Solar Gard films have that "special" look to it like the Quantum? Just want to be aware?

Be carefull!
Just found out the hard way about tint laws. Random mod inspection in chula vista. Cop pulled over my buddy in his altima for haveing tinted driver / passenger windows. He explained that if they cannot see into the driver compartment without restrictions they can and will pull you over. As soon as he stated the reason for being cited (fix it ticket) he asked to open the hood. The guy was pretty nice about the whole thing because it was a stock altima. In conversation he said the other thing they were going after were exausts and ride hight issues. Any reason to get under the hood pretty much.

solar gard tint
couple questions.
1) what's the difference between quantum, titanium and HP solar gard tint?
2) i hear $130-140 for titanium tint on 5 windows is a good price. how much would quantums go for? is the price difference worth it?
sorry for digging up an old thread, but i just don't want to make a dumb investment. thx.

Like most people, I like having very little gap between the tint and the edge of the glass. When I did my WRX I took the little razor that came with the tint and I scotch taped it to a 9 volt battery. Then I slid the battery along the window edge and ended up with a perfect 1/16" gap all around.
Even though I highly recommend this procedure, the only problem is that because the tint rubs against the window seal every time you open and close the window, it eventually gets lightly scratched.
