Kellie's 2002 GT35 WRX wagon

Thank you!
I'm putting this here more for my own personal info, but maybe it will help someone else too. Calling around to get prices on sleeving this block that I picked up the other day.
Sending it to Darton looks like it'll be around $1200 or $1250 plus shipping. This includes the actual sleeves. Turnaround is roughly 15 days.
Ridge Reamer (local machine shop) quoted me $800 for labor only, turnaround time is roughly a week. They use torque plates, whole 9 yards. Didn't think to ask about warranty, but when I worked for CCR building Subaru engines, we did all of our machine work with them and they never failed us. They do machine work for most of the crazy Subaru builds in the area. Leaning toward this option.

For the last few months, I've been on the hunt for a decent insurance policy for my car. Subarus are commonly stolen around here and Blue Book wouldn't even come close to covering me if something were to happen to it. As of today, I've officially been turned down by:
American Collectors: car is too new and they don't insure cars that are used for timed events.
Hagerty: car is too new and not considered collectible.
Leland West: car is too new and not considered collectible.
I just spent 20 minutes on the phone with an agent that my friend highly recommended who deals with modified cars on a regular basis. She said my problem was likely that I mentioned the "r-word". Racing. So she's going to look into it and have her partner call me tomorrow. There may be hope for me yet.

I just bought another blue bugeye 2002 wagon. Because I have a problem. It needs a turbo and a clutch, amongst other things - it's a little rough but I got a great deal. I should probably start a new thread for it, but I don't plan to do too much to it, I just want to turn it into a reliable daily. I'm currently researching options for turbos. I was quoted $400-575 by a local company to rebuild the PE1820, but I don't think it's worth it. Thinking HTA68. Needs to be stock location. Taking suggestions.

Whoops, guess I forgot to update this. The fast car is going to have to share its thread with the new wagon.
I was really hoping that the blue smoke coming from the new car would be something easy. A bad turbo, or even a bad PCV valve. It seemed to be running okay, aside from the occasional flicker of the check engine light, and it wasn't making any unusual noises.
Last Wednesday night, I had a dream that I did a compression test on it, and the left front cylinder had no compression (that's normal, right?). Thursday was my day off, so I pulled the turbo and found a ton of oil in the intake and intercooler. The turbo inlet hose was soft and eroded from all of the oil. The turbo had no shaft play whatsoever and I couldn't find anything wrong with it. Bad sign. I pulled the plugs on the passenger side and everything looked okay, both cylinders passed the compression test with flying colors. There was hope. Pulled the plugs on the drivers side, and found this...
Cylinder 4 wasn't looking too pretty. Checked the compression, and...
Fail.

Spent the rest of the day Thursday disconnecting things and getting the motor ready to come out, then pulled it Sunday afternoon. The plan is to rebuild my existing motor at Colorado Component Rebuilders, and ditch the big turbo and Utec for something more suitable for a daily driver. I'm currently in the market for an excellent condition STi turbo (VF39, VF48, whatever...don't really care) and intercooler, and the PE1820, Utec, and APS top mount intercooler are for sale.
Here's what the car looked like as of about 14:30 Sunday afternoon:
Spent a few more hours cleaning, and now it looks about a million times better!
My pile 'o fasteners (which has since nearly doubled in size) and a goodnight shot...
