I am sick of hearing “why don’t you just save your money and buy a new car”

Saturday afternoon, not even enough $$ for sandpaper. ...
Hummm what to do.
I ended up sitting in my room staring at the bunny cage and the pile of car parts sitting next to it. So I started doing all the piddily little stuff that I had been putting off.
So I got the main power cable run that’s relocating the battery to the trunk.
I ran the door speaker wires to the trunk where the amp is going to go.
and I did the sound deadening in the drivers door and also cut the metal plates for the passengers door. It got too cold to do the dynamat in the passengers door, so that will wait till tomorrow along with painting the rest of the stitch welds.
I am still not sure what to do, if any thing, about the hole the door lock, and unlatch bars go thru. Its a couple of realy odd angles. I think I might just do two plates with a gap in the middle. a little gap is better than a gaping hole I guess.

hahaha. hell ya. i get the samething with my rx7. people will always ask, how much money do you have into it? how much this, that blah blah blah. for as much as ive spent, i coulve bought 2 cars, but its about personalizing your ride to how you want it. not about having a new car. mad props for doing such a big project

well like the truck stop hooker, she ant the prettiest, and she ant the cleanest, but she was cheap and will get the job done.

And with a little paint, the base plate and a little bit of dynamat it almost looks like I know what I’m doing!

It was actually a fun, and free project.
I love my scrap bin.
I just took a bit of 1/2“ x 1/2” x 1/8” angle iron, cut it to length, cut a 45 degree angle on either end and 3 90 degree angles along it. Then I just bent along the middle of each 90 degree cut and welded the two open ends together. I then put a 1/2" x 1/8” flat piece going down the middle, smoothed it all out and welded 2 nuts on end on either side for the tie downs. After all of that I welded the tray to the floor of the trunk on top of a frame rail and also welded a grounding bolt on end to the floor. For the base plate of the battery box I took a chunk of sheet aluminum and rolled the edges under to fit. Then I took a chunk of dynamat and cut it to fit the base plate.

Not bad progress for no $ and barely any time after work.

*EDIT* My prof for political science class was sick today so I had time to wire every thing up. So now the battery is happily relocated to the trunk permanently!

car hasn’t burnt down yet.

window tint is on its way.

I have an appointment with the insurance company tomorrow to get my bike legal.

Pay day is Friday so I will have $ for sand paper and primer.

The body kit should show up any day.

and I still have half my lunch break.

I think this deserves a cigar!

Karma frickin rocks!!

The window tint kit arrived, and they accidentally cut me 2 windshield tints, one 5% and the other 20%, when I was supposed to get no windshield tint, and a 20% rear window. That means I can tint my windshield 20% and my rear window (with a little trimming) 5%.

The body kit came!!
So cool, I cant wait till Friday when we are going to swap around bits to see what combo we like best.

welp, you’ll smile at this.
The window tint is in. Its never going to be mistaken for a pro-job but no one will ever notice on line or from ten feet!

My friend matt is coming over tonight, we are going to swap around bits and see what combo of body kit bits look best.

The fiberglass panels are ready for paint.

Oh, and the income tax check came back soooooo,
I ordered the mild steel 8 point cage last night. It will be here Wednesday. I have no idea when my dads friend (professional welder) will be here to help put it in.

We have a winner!!
We were playing around with the options and decided that the doluck stuff was too aggressive looking.
BTW for sale now!! https://www.i-club.com/forums/new-aftermarket-car-parts-sale-98/doluck-body-kit-front-bumper-side-skirts-163296/

But this is the set-up we decided on. The rear bumper is barley hanging on in the picture (the muffler was keeping it from going in place).
We decided that the c-west skirts, euro front bumper, doluck rear bumper, and v6 sti spoiler were just what the doctor ordered!

I just cant wait to get some paint on them!!

This is definitely where I parked my car!
