I am sick of hearing “why don’t you just save your money and buy a new car”

Hmm... looks like a bunch of plastic that doesn't belong on the car... especially the skirts. I do like the rear bumper though.

and here are the side skirts painted
Its such a tough choice because the skirts and bumper I picked make the car look more soft and bubblie where as the do-luck kit makes it look anglie and rough. Two totaly diffrent syles.
Ill prolly put them both on, take pictures, put up a voting thread and then do what ever the hell I want any way!
I will definetly keep yall posted.

OK, progress at last.
Ive got the majority of the rough work done on the back door cards.
I just need to do another layer of glass on the outside surface and a good thick chop layer on the backing.
They are going to look wild but hott. I cant wait to start throwing putty on them.

The only reason it remains wingless is because I cant stand when people slap a wing on the car without painting it.
I’m sorry but to me a 2 door just looks like a toyota echo without a wing.
ah well,
I guess we will see just how it all works out.
I am super geeked over the back door cards though!!

sweeeet
the do-luck kit is on the way
Just picked up pre-cut window tint 5%back side windows 20% the rest of the way around.
and the all improtant Piggie side view mirror decals are on the way!
Once all that stuff comes in its just a matter of going down to the local shop and picking up the new fenders and throwing some paint and this car should be looking half way decent again.
Then I can do some serrious work to the intirror!

I got the tint today and attempted to apply it with little luck. First off the pre cut was more like pre-scored. It wasn’t cut through all the way around. It sucked!! I ended up ripping the tint in like 4 places trying to peel the excess off, then when I finally got it on they stuck out so bad I ripped them off. I emailed the seller seeing if he will make good and send me out a set that is cut properly. We will see how it goes.
On the plus side I got putty on the panels and they are looking good.

Michigan we are not supposed to have any tint on the side windows and have the back window light enough to see the number of occupants in the car unless tinted other wise from the factory. The darkest auto manufacturers go on the back window is 20% so I thought Id try to fly under the radar.

yeah. im not sure what ny laws really are. but i dont really care otherwise. i have friends that have gotten pulled over for it, and if you go to the station in 24 hours with the front windows tint torn off and sign a paper you dont pay anything. so its not a big deal to me.
im liking the custom panels. keep up the good work.

I am pleased with how they are turning out.
I just wish my uncle will hurry up with those rear seats so i can start mocking up the center speaker box.
My friends have gotten slapped with 'fix it' tickets and yes they showed up at the station the next day with the tint removed and avoided the $200 fine. which works out because the same company sells a front window kit for $10 plus $15 shipping.
They contacted me and said that if I send it back 'return to sender' it should be free and if they find that it was improperly cut then they will send me a new one.
If not I figure I can at least work out a deal, because I am sure that there was some human error in there some where so I would have no prob paying another $15 for a fresh kit. Who knows.
I will keep you all posted on how it goes.

I just cant catch a break... but oddly enough, I came up even?
I sent the package back to the seller. It was one of those big wrapping paper tubs. I mention this because when it came back to me it was U shape.. Yes, it did come back to me with a big blue tag that explained that you cant send it back parcel post after you opened it.
apparently it wasn’t well taken care of because the tube was broken in half and the tint was ripped and totally destroyed.
So I was bummin. I took a look at the auction and it turns out the package was insured. I talked to the seller and it turns out the package was insured. so I taped it back up again paid the $4 and its on its way back to the seller, who is going to turn it into the 3rd party company, get the insurance refund, and send me a new kit.
so that rocks.
I wanted to get my mind off of that stuff so I worked more on the door cards.
I have the firm base of body filler so I decided to move on to glazing putty. I was spreading the putty and thought it was going very well. It was a lot smoother than most glazing putties that I have used in the past. It was just about when I thought that that I realized I had bought a big tube of cream hardener instead of glazing putty...
Ah well, I scraped it all off and wiped it down so hopefully it doesn’t screw up the glazing putty when I put it down...
So I guess I came out even?

Rock!
LOL
I used about 9 cans of primer!!!
All I did was hit up some light primer on all that smooth stuff, and I primed the heck out of all the textured bits (door panels and guage pod).
And yes thats actully glazing putty on the back cards and not cream hardener this time!!
Hopefully they will be fully preped by the end of this weekend and I can paint em next weekend!!
