I am sick of hearing “why don’t you just save your money and buy a new car”

well i had a bit of trouble getting a shine back to it after wet sanding but a bit more wet sanding with 1500 grit and being a bit more agressive with the buffer did the trick!

Hey thanks!
I got to confess, thats only the 3rd enclosure I have ever made!
It just takes some one explaining it to you, and going out and trying it.
.....
serriously
read the DIY I posted and give it a shot.
the only tips I can realy give other than whats stated in the DIY is take your time with the bondo step. Make sure you always use some sort of foam sanding block between the sand paper, and your hand. it cuts wayyyy down on those weird woops and waves.

all it takes is getting out there and playing with it.
think john Holms made his first girl wiggle?
takes some cubby chasing to get it right.
The first things I turned out looked like **** but hey each time it gets a little better...
so in about 20 more boxes they might just look good! LOL

Whoa dude, Calvin brought this thing up to the main page with his post... I never saw it until now. The ground you covered is amazing... Any new word on the engine? Did you ever get carpet? Are you planning on putting a backseat in for appearance or leaving it out?

sorry all, been out of the game for a bit... trying to make an effort at this new job.
I will snap pics when I get home...
here are the updates.
- my uncle is still dragging *** on the seats, and I was sick of getting the 3rd degree every time the girl friend had to drive; so I bought my self a $200 set of fixed back seats for the time being.
- The carpet is in and looks great
- the only intirror bits I still need to finish and put back in are rear seats, rear deck, drivers and passingers intirror door panels, and the two plastic bits around the shifter.
-engine is still on hold.. Im ars hole deep into an 87 supra right now
and Im thinking of offing the subie.
as I stated this is my daily driver and im having a hard time justifying putting more $$ into it...
I will post a link if I do this, but Im thinking of just offing it (sound system, engine bits, 22b panels and all) on ebay for $4k. Ill finish putting the intirror together and see what I can do about the curb rash on the rims and front bumper (stupid friends cant drive).
sorry it took so long to update this ... Like I said... workie workie

pics of the supra
Back story:
bought an 83 celica GTS and an 87 supra for $700 for the both of them.
Both ran and moved. The celica was better looking and in better condition so I striped the supra and got ready to install the drive train into the celica. After getting into it I decided the celica's suspension was wayy to limited, that and I found a soild body 87 supra (the silver one) with no engine and no trans for $750.
so I offed the first supra, and the celica, kept a bunch of bits from the first supra and started rebuilding the engine. I found a guy selling a custom front mount intercooler, brand new T4 turbo, custom down pipe, Tubular exhaust manifold, external waste gate, custom intake manifold and all the tubing for $600.
on the to do list for this thing is:
-rebuild the engine
-new clutch and light weight flywheel
-big injectors
-high flow fule pump
-body kit
-paint job
-play with it for a few years and sell it off.

Man, Im sick of this crap.
Im bouncing back and forth between selling or holding onto it.
I am now (for this week) under the impression that if I want a new car its going to be somthing along the lines of another firbird (I miss my ls1 forumla badly), GTO or something else with some power and totaly impractical in the winter. If I do get a new car I will be back into payments and would require full covrage on that. So I would either have to sell the subaru, or pay it off. It dosent make much sence to me to sell the subaru for $4k, pay off the last $2k, put the rest as a down payment on a new car and then look around for a decent winter beater. I might as well just keep the subaru (for no other reasion than for a reliable winter beater), collect parts where I can and just fix up the supra for a fun summer car.
So I posted the parts I need on the A-hole forum and got instent reslut.
it looks like I have a line on a wrx cradel, TGV's, wrx rack, front Knuckles, and one aluminium controle arm for under $500 shipped.....
not bad seeing how a remanufactured rack is $375 alone.
Im not all that far from having what I need to do this swap.
Just need;
gaskets
pistons
cams
sprins and retainers
flywheel
clutch
exhaust manifold
up-pipe
turbo
waste gate
turbo timmer
boost controler
rebuilt oil pump
wrx oil pan and pickup tube
and cat back exhaust
