Ok so I literally spent all day yesterday working on the car…
9am-1am
On the plus side.

I got most of the interior back in (a-pillar plastics, b/c pillar plastics, and headliner with all associated stuff)… it doesn’t seem like much but it was a pain!! The worst part was finding all the hardware again!

The door cards went it. Im not pleased with the fit, but I will make due.

After trying to use every soldering iron in my house, saying f-that and going to RadioShack and buying a 140-200watt soldering gun.. all the rest of the wiring is done!

I went down to my local car sterio joint to figure out what the F is going on with the amp turning off when ever I try to listen to any thing other than tuner. I was ready to buy a new head unit.. turns out sony is ****e when it comes to labeling the amp remote wire. It turns out I wired up to the wire labeled “Atn remote” which is actually the power antenna. All it took was 10 minutes of re-wire and it was working fine.

I was so happy that I didn’t need a new head unit I started browsing there 12” subs… well one thing lead to another and I walked out with a 12” Kicker comp CR 4ohm dual voice coil sub, and a Kicker 400.1 amp rated at 429 amps.

I got to creating once I got home.
I first made up another floating amp mount that welded directly into the trunk floor (yeah Im sick of f-ing around with removable stuff)
Then I just took some simple ¾” angle iron and made up mounts that suspend the sub over the spare tire tub.
Then I did a quick dyno-mat job of the floor. Im not all too worried about how the floor looks because its going to be covered any way by carpet.
I think I will either make a fiberglass sub box or just get some mirror plastic put that on the floor of the spare tire tub and carpet the sides that way you can see the bottom of the sub..
For an open air sub it sounds great… rumbles like you wouldn’t believe!

Agenda for today
Clean up the car
Put in the passengers seat
Fix the rear bumper….. again…. God I hate that thing!!!!
And maybe make an mdf box for the two 8”s that I have chillin in my room…. Depends if I can get my seat back from my uncle that’s re-covering it.

It is really cool that you have all the skills and tools needed to do all this stuff. I am still learning on things here and there. For me, I think I have to be careful and make sure that I don't bite off more than I can chew. Had one project that almost bit me in the ( )( ).

just so happens heres two more usless ones

quick dirty box (just how I like em)
and another amp in the trunk
good enough for a days work
along with washing and wheeling out the car
it sounds wayyy better than it looks.
its great the 12" is a great low rumble and the two 8"s are awsome for the quick mids.
I got to do some re thinking if Im going to make this work the way I want it to.
We will see

I know I go over board some times but hell most people dont read so I figgure they can just look at the purty pictures.

ok, so, Im a crazy sob when it comes to modding, but I think I may have just crossed the line on this one.

I was trying to think of a way to easily hold the fiberglass in place, tightly ageist the wheel well walls and floor while it cured.

so I laid down a sheet of painters plastic
covered that in tin foil
Laid down two full sheets of randomly stranded fiberglass blanket
coated it with thick resin
laid down a biiiig bit of painters plastic
then filled it up with water

I just hope I remember that my trunk is filled with water tomorrow morning before I go to work!!

Did I metion that Im not all sure that the resin will cure under the plastic?
I have done this before with sand but never water...
I just hope the resin wont eat through the plastic!

well the resin cured just fine, and I have the skin on the box and curing now..

As insain of an Idea as that was it turned out very well.

Welp, I knew it would happen one day but I never thought it would be so soon.
I just put the down payment on my 22b body kit.
http://www.rs25.com/forums/showthrea...0&page=1&pp=15
What the seller did was got a line on do-luck knock off blister front fenders and the supplier for the 22b rear fenders and side skirts. This is perfect because I love my front bumper and want to keep it... Though, I wouldnt mind getting my hands on a 22b front and rear kock off.

It looks like it will take a bit of work to get the side skirts and fenders to play nice, but $1500 delivered is not bad.

I just cant wait to get my grubby little hands on it.

well the initial priming on the trunk box looks promising
rear deck box still looks like a pink cake (just cant get up the ambition to sand it)
I hope to have paint on the both of them by monday.

Got around to throwing some paint today. (right up your alley biG)
I used the last of my red so the other box, door cards, center counsel inserts, and amp covers will have to wait a couple of weeks until I finish putting the $ together for the 22b kit. So its going to be a few weeks.
