ive only spent like $1500 so far on this car, but if i manage to save a bit more money, i might be set.right now, the original engine that i puylled out is at a race shop for an inspection to see if its worth reusing. then ill get it ported and polished, forged pistons and rods, upgraded valve train and new cams.

i need to save my money for a while, but first i need to get caught up on bills and the impreza.

well, i figured out why i had such bad blowby, there was about a 1.5" peice of the compression ring missing. i started pulling the new engines manifold off today to find out that on of the bolts broke off at the threads and that the other one is just stuborn. i need to try and finish pulling it apart this week, im hoping to get it back on the road as a birthday present to myself. ill finally be 21 on the 13th. ivee also got a new power steering rack for the car. i hope i can get it fixed this week,i think i just need to get the egr tube unbolted and i should be able to finish pulling the manifold. after that, its just replacing the gaskets and hoses and putting it back together, shouldnt be too hard. i think the hardest part to deal with is the fact that i dont have a garage and its cold out. ill get it done soon, i hope.

if it doesnt snow today, i might be out there turning a wrench after work. i just need to disconnect the egr tube and pray i can get that broken bolt out. but maybe, just maybe, i should probably go to work, it took me long enough to find this job, might as well get there on time so i dont loose it. granted, i am the first person there in the mornings.

i got down to the broken bolt, it was about 1/4" above the head, untill i tried to get it with vice grips, now its below the head surface. looks like time for the drill and easy outs...

im going to try and keep tgrue to my original goals, but this might take a while. the first engine is still sitting at the shop till i can save enough cash to get head and valve work done, then im going to se about getting the cylinders bored to acommodate new pistons, maybe forged wrx pistons, it would be cheaper and easier to get those pistons than it would be to get em custom made for this engine. ill also need to find a way to get the fuel system upgraded to the point that i could use an actual fuelrail and better injectors.

i hope i can get this thing running again today, then maybe i can sneak it down the road to the inspection station, aka, meineke.. granted the tags expired in december and id get i nice fine if i were caught. i think i ccan make it a mile and a half without getting busted. ive been drivinei my impreza around with the expired inspection stick still on it and haven been pulled yet, granted, i have the new one in the car, i just need to put it on.

ill chime back in later today if i can.

ill also try to take some pics of the engine and the car, its looking better than it did in the last pics i took.

peace
tim

if i can get this one bolt drilled out and then tapped, i should be able to get it back together and have it running.putting it all back together wont be hard, this engine is amazinngly simple. im going to try and upload a few more pics today. i need to set up a new gallery cause i forgot my password and screen name at the other host. go me. i just need to get it inspected and then get the permanent tags so that i can start the upgrading, but i guess it helps if it runs first.

got it out, got it bolted up, drove it like i was on a rally shakedown. no leaks, no new issues. i tbhink it will be ready by the end of next week, as long as i dont brake anything.

i need to get a new td04 for it, the one i ad was barrowed by the guy that gav it to me, he threw it out cause it was cracked, now i have no larger turbo.

before i start upgrading the engine and such, i need to get a few other little things fixed, lie the ujoint that wobbles about when i slow down and the steering rack that has blown its seals. ill get that done this next payday, and then ill get it registered and be happy.

i have my first engine at a machine shop waiting on me to save the moeny to get it worked over. i think ill see about getting it bored out to acommodate the pistons from a wrx. then ill get a port and polish, cams, valve job, xt manifold, xt6 throttlebody, upgraded feul system. and a few other things i cant remember at the moment.

if i can ever get the pics uploaded, ill post em here.

lets see, ive got a few bits of news. first off, im not 21!!!! cheers!! now for the real world, last week, someone broke into my impreza and jacked my stereo, a horrible turn of events but some good has come of it, i got the rx pressed into service and now am on the path to getting it registered, granted ive been driving on expired tags all week. tomarrow night, i hope, ill be gettting a 2.5" turbo back exhaust fabed up for it be a friend of mine. then hopefully on friday, ill get it tagged.

for my b-day, my frined got me a msd ignition coil for the rx, it made a noticeable difference. ive got the homedepot intake still on there, but i think my friend is also going to help me with making a proper intake for it.

illthink of more later and ill chime back in.

peace
