I dont think anyone here cares at all (as it is a subaru forum), haha - so this is mostly for myself....

Yeah, the engine ran when i pulled it - but i think it should be rebuilt anyway, as it went 35 years with just minor maintenence, then sat for 10 years - but yeah, it ran, suprisingly good too. I'LL EVEN THROW IN THE SMOG PUMP!!!YAAAY!
I think the australians have just about put every engine you could imagine into a 510 at some point or another. I wouldnt be suprised to find a goddamned radial in one. But yeah, the vq is just too big for the car.
Psss, i heard rumors of a gti-r sr20det awd 510 in new zealand, apparently its the fastest datto on the island.

Ian, dude, thats a CLEAN dime! where the heck did you find that one? nice job, that'll be a fun project......
a little update on my project (for those that dont know, I bought Ian's 71 4 door from him over the summer.) My project is going much slower than yours....as my house is getting remodeled, so I havent had much time to play with the dime.
However, i did get all the interior ripped out last week, and the dash taken apart, I am prepping it for a complete rewire throughout. I've decided to put a nice Painless Fuse block under the dash and get rid of the stock fuse box, and run all new wires everywhere. Remember how the rearend was all smashed in? well, I got that almost all straightened out again, just needs the finish work to make it all smooth again. The right rear door is straight also, I got that huge dent pulled out too. So its coming along slowly. I'll have to post a project thread of my own now. I shouldda taken some "Before" pics....oh well.
Also, the Solid rear axle (for US Spec vehicles) was only in the wagons, and the 520-521 pickups, fyi. the coupes and sedans both came with factory R160s, coincidentally that were manufactured by FHI. So in essence, this project is not as far OT as you'd think being on a suby site......actually, I think I have heard somewhere, that FHI actually built the 510s (whole car) as well.
