WTB: 5-Speed, in decent (good) shape...
Hi guys,
I figured i'd post this first before I start contacting various vendors.
My 5-speed in my L w/ RS conversion is going kaput. The dealership mechanic (who I trust) diagnosed it as having some internal issues, the initial estimate is in the ~$1500 range So I think I will just try to find a new one rather than repairing this one since it would probably be cheaper to do.
I figured I would look around and see if any are availible with little or no miles and if anything "different" might be out there... Right now, I have a 4.11 Rs tranny, but I wouldnt mind a 4.44 or even a 3.9 (or lower) ratio to change how the car drives, either to make it faster or have it at lower freeway RPM's to save gas. I know there are some JDM 5-speeds floating around, but I figure i'd ask to see if anyone has anything interesting...
I wish I could do a front LSD, but that is probably out of the question price-wise.
Oh, and I also need a throwout bearing, but that should be easy to have fixed (and the part isnt expensive) when the new tranny goes in...
I'll update if I have anything else I want to add. Let me know if anyone has or knows of anything availible...
Thanks!

you should definitely try contacting gruppe-s - they saved me from even more unnecessary down time on my L sedan when I found a nearly brand new 5-spd NA tranny sitting at their shop for under $700. Kept my original aftermarket clutch and flywheel, 3.9 final drive too so I didnt have to change my rear diff!

I'm talking about the near 0 mile 5-speeds that Gruppe-s gets now and then...
Right now I think i'm going to try and rebuild my tranny myself over the summer. Maybe Ill get a front LSD too if I do that... But hopefully the tranny isnt totally ruined by then.
