Selling OEM SUBARU WRX STI TURBO VF39
came from 2004 STI
Compressor wheel is damaged and compressor wheel rod tip broke off
there is a common crack on the hot side
Turbo has a shaft play but can be rebuilded with rebuild kit
SOLD AS IS,

I hate to say it but that turbo is basically just a really heavy paperweight now if you're looking at it as a candidate for rebuild. There's no reliable and safe way to rebuild it (bearings, seals, compressor and turbine wheels + balance it correctly) for anything less than what a good used VFxx turbo goes for. My understanding is this goes for most, if not all, IHI VF series turbos.
It's still good for parts though (wastegate actuator, hot/cold-side housings, coolant/oil pipes.

But I agree with tofuman: its pretty much useless. the amount of money to rebuild this would cost more than a fresh low mileage one. That comp wheel damage pretty much seals the coffin for it. This would be useful for a blouch 20g comp wheel upgrade. But would come out costing almost as much as a new 20g.

That eBay vendor I linked also has turbine and compressor wheels, so you could replace that one as well and find a machine shop that can balance it. Parts would be 150, balance who knows. It's doable though.
