Skilled Service Needed
Hey everyone, I need some help from my fellow I-Club members. Recently, I got my rear brake pads put on and now, every time I apply the brakes and it comes to a complete stop, I hear a clunking noise coming from my rear brakes. Can someone be nice enough to help me check it out to make sure its installed correctly and why its making that noise.
Also, my abs/brake light consistently comes on together occasionally when I start up the car. I do not know why, it started happening when I got my rear brakes put on. If someone can help me with these 2 problem I will compensate you well. Looking forward to some help...thanks

You need to get the rotors turned or replace the rotors every time you change the pads. but it may be a loose caliper but actually check your wheel lugs too. I remember when installing my mudflaps I forgot to tighten one wheel and I got a clunking sound from that side til I tightened it.

I'd suggest before someone looks at it for you to not drive the car. The rears dont do much of the braking but if it is a loose caliper and it comes off you could do some damage. I'm a mechanic in Sunnyvale but dont have any time this week/weekend.
If you did the pads yourself you should be able to recheck everything. No torque specs needed for calipers, just make sure they are very tight. If everything is tight then yes someone should look at it. Did the rotors have a lip on the edges?

Hey IheartE30s, I have been driving the car like this for the past month and nothing seems to be wrong besides the point that I can hear it make a click/clunk noise when I brake. Also abs/brake light come on every now and then but I do not know if its faulty sensor or w.e.
And about the pads, I didnt do it myself but I had a mechanic do it and the rotors at the edge does have a sharp lip around it...is that what your talking about?

With that lip there they should be replaced, Im guessing the pads are resting on that lip and when the brakes are applied theres distance to between the pads and rotor and thats the noise. Just a possibility. Hopefully the pads arent damaged.
The ABS light though is odd. Again this could be due to something loose, could throw off the rotation speed which bugs the ABS module. Again just a possibility.
