1. It's Newcastle NOT New Castle.
2. Boddington's is excellent and the 'froth' dies down perfectly in a minute or so.
3. BJ's is utter crap, and should not be considered beer (or food for that matter).
4. You should brush up on your beer knowledge as it's a bit rusty. I recommend a month or so in the UK.
Good idea tho.. Newcastle is good stuff.

2. Just to expand, the "frothy" texture is the nitrogen; it's released from the widget when you pop the top, and forms the very fine creamy head you see on Boddingtons and Guiness Draught. (Otherwise, you'd have to go to a pub to get it nitrogen-drawn). I'm not sure why Newcastle and Boddingtons got put in the same category, though. As wombatsauce said, it will settle in a minute; all stouts should be given a chance to settle and breathe.
3. Sir, you must be going to the wrong BJ's. Their Jeremiah Red is quite good, and some of their beers have done quite well in competitions. You may not care for the styles you've tried, but they are well brewed to the style. For the quality of the beer and food, combined with generous portions and typically excellent service, they are one of the best brewhouses around.
4. Or just leave some beer out on the counter for an hour. Really, though... hello, Oktoberfest?
Aye, Newcastle is good. It's actually a blend of a dark and light ale; they sell one independently, but not the other. BYO published a clone recipe for both, a while back.
Bump for beer.

Regarding BJ's... I used to live across 280 from the Cupertino BJ's and went there 3x. I tried all the beer - I am a beer nut. I was not even remotely impressed with any of the beers I tried. The wheat was at least OK.
I work right near the Bridgepoint BJ's and have been there 3x. Now, I know that a lot of things are subjective and this sort of thing is always open to opinion, but this place sucks *** PERIOD. The first time I went there I had a 'pot roast' with mashed potatoes, and I had 3 pints of different beers. The "roast" was like beef spam, it was sofa king nasty - I scraped the gravy off it and was like WTF, chopped and formed beef. Then the mashed potatoes were totally instant crap. The beers were not good or balanced in any way. I don't remeber which I tried except the red, which was mediocre at best. Sure this is just my opinion, but I have had a LOT of beers at a LOT of places, and I feel I know my way around a beer.
Anywho...
