Im not sure they are plug and play on a 2004 WRX. I'll have to research a bit.

They're not. The passenger side connectors are different and require.. massaging.

There are couple up on eBay right now.

I saw a few on Ebay, do you know if the 2004 JDM cluster is the same as the US version?

I am fairly new to this platform so i am trying to learn as much as possible too.

I thought mechanically and wiring wise the 04-07 STi was all the same for USDM, so if you have to repin some stuff to get the 04 to work, might as well buy his 07.

Thats what I was trying to figure out. There is a huge thread on another forum with the break down whats needed in the Bugeyes from a 2005 STi cluster but not much info on a 07 STi cluster into a 04. I'll buy that cluster if it works for me, Im not afraid to repin or cut some stuff.

2004 and earlier clusters (WRX and STi) are plug and play on 2004 and earlier WRXs and STis. 2005 and newer clusters had different connectors and pin outs from the 2004 and earlier iterations.

2004 STi clusters are plug-and-play for 2002-2004 WRXs. 2005-2007 STi clusters, which are identical to each other, are not.

Good info.

Well if you are comfortable looking up some pinout diagrams and repinning, go for it and possibly do a write up too. It would be valuable information.
