FS: 2003 WRX PSM Wagon (148k Miles) - PRICE DROP: $6,800
I have decided to sell my 2003 PSM WRX Wagon. I am the original owner, and bought the car on/around March 2003 from Stevens Creek Subaru. It is a 5spd manual, and has approximately 148k miles on it. Most of the miles were accrued when I was commuting to school – either to Davis or SF from Santa Clara.
I have used only fully synthetic oils (Mobil 1, Castrol 0w30 European Formula, Motul, etc.) and good filters (WIX, Mobil 1, OEM) for the life of the car – oil and filter were changed every 3-4k miles. In addition to the routine maintenance items (below), during the time I’ve owned the car, various parts have been replaced with newer OEM parts with less mileage, i.e. turbo, radiator, struts/springs, one of the coil packs, etc.
I used to run a full catless turboback setup, but have always run a stock turbo, fuel pump, injectors, etc. The car is currently running a custom EQ Tuning Stage 2 map (on a Cobb Accessport Ver. 1) on a stock turboback exhaust. I had the car smogged a few months ago, and it passed without issue.
I have some various extra parts lying around that I will include, i.e. extra stock sedan sway bars w/ bushings, front headlight, stock TMIC Y-pipe, stock radio (if I can find it), etc.
The car will be sold AS-IS. I have, to the best of my knowledge, disclosed all known issues.
I have the title (clean) in hand. The car is currently located in San Mateo, but the extra parts are located in Santa Clara.
I will probably list the car on Craigslist, but I'd prefer it go to someone in the community, if possible.
CARFAX Full Report Available.
Price: $7,500 -- PRICE DROP - $7,000 -- PRICE DROP - $6,800
Maintenance:
Tires (Bridgestone RE760 Sports) have approx. 50% tread left on them.
The timing belt/water pump/etc. was done at approximately 120k.
Passenger side front axle (non-OEM) was replaced approximately one year ago.
Spark plugs replaced last year.
Rotors and pads (Hawk) were replaced about a year ago – pads probably will need to be replaced sometime in the near future.
Clutch and flywheel were replaced last year.
Transmission fluid changed in July.
I just had the front drivers’ side wheel bearing replaced. The shop was unable to remove just the wheel bearing, so I had to replace the entire assembly - wheel bearing/hub/housing/axle/inner and outer seals/lower ball joint, etc. An OEM housing was used; the remainder of the parts were not OEM.
I have some of the service records, but not all. I performed most of the routine maintenance myself, i.e. oil changes, etc. All major services performed at either AutoHQ in Redwood City, or 123 Auto in San Francisco.
Mods:
Blitz DCII Turbo Timer/Boost Gauge
Titek Catless uppipe
Crucial ported manifolds
Samco Intercooler Y-Hose
Samco Turbo Inlet Hose
GM 3-port Boost Solenoid
20mm OEM Sedan rear sway bar
Fumoto oil drain valve
Cobb Accessport Ver. 1 w/ custom EQ Tuning Stage 2 Map
Pioneer DEH-P6900UB Car Deck
All weather mats (will include original carpet mats also)
Notes:
For the most part, the car is pretty clean (both inside and out).
Aside from a few dings/dents, the worst being the one by the rear drivers’ side taillight (shown below), the body and paint are in great shape.
The car has been involved in a minor few fender-benders over the years (never any frame damage), so the front and rear bumpers have been replaced with OEM parts.
With regards to the interior, it is also pretty clean, aside from normal wear and tear for an 8yr old car – the worst of the wear is probably on the steering wheel and drivers’ seat bolsters. Also, the little plastic clip that holds the rear middle seat belt (in the trunk) is broken.
Overall, the car runs great.
Known Issues:
AC is not working. I had it re-filled about a year ago, but it no longer blows cold. Not sure if there is a leak, or whether it just needs another refill.
I get the occasional “misfire” CEL for cylinder 2 – I’ve had the coil pack replaced for that cylinder, and changed the plugs, but I still get it occasionally. I believe this is a common WRX issue. It does not affect the drivability of the car at all – I’ll just plug in my Accessport and clear the code. It’s more of an annoyance than anything.
Standard WRX rattles – The glove box used to rattle, but I used some rubber spacers to remedy this. Occasionally, the little metal VIN plate on the dash will rattle.
Fog light bulbs need to be replaced.
I only have 1 remote, 1 standard key, and 1 valet key.

I work in Redwood City, and live in San Mateo. I usually get home around 6:30pm, so any time after that during the week would work for me. Saturday would be good too, but I will be down in Santa Clara (which may be even better, since the transfer needs to occur there anyways).
