FS: 1992 Yamaha XJ600 Seca II
Hey!
Summer is still here and so is biking season! I recently bought this bike to learn how to ride, but a busy schedule meant no time to ride. So I've decided it makes no sense to keep a bike I won't ride.
The Seca II is a great beginner's bike, providing decent power (much more than a ninja 250) in a comfortable riding position. The bike is currently naked, and with dents and dings from the previous owner(s), but it still rides well.
It has a clean title; the registration was just paid off until August 2011, and it is crazy cheap to insure. It cost mid 200's for a year full comprehensive coverage with $250 deductibles.
Although the bike rides great, and is a fun ride there is a problem. Something that can be easily fixed by those who are mechanically savvy and/or those who have the proper tools. When I bought the bike I was told that the starter motor was dead, so it couldn't be electronically started. However, after I bought a new starter motor, I discovered that about an inch of the idler gear (the gear which engages with the starter motor was sheared). Thus, if the starter motor aligns with the sheared section, you have to bump start the bike (Which isn't as hard as it may seem). But if it is properly aligned with teeth, then it starts right up. (Yesterday it started up two times without any problems). I'm assuming that if it is aligned with the sheared section, you could walk the bike (in gear?) until the sheared gear rotates out of position. But don't take my word for it.
KBB values the bike at 1400; I'm looking for 1000-1100. But any reasonable offer will be considered.
PM for better/ requested pictures and info
