Downpipe help

Hey guys, I'm in need of opinions. I have an '06 wrx with a COBB cat-back and a HELIX downpipe. Now my problem is that there is a small exhaust leak from the downpipe to the mid-pipe, and some friends say that the HELIX is not meant to mate with the COBB exhaust. If that's the case, anyone recommend a good downpipe that will go well with my exhaust???

Thanks guys!!!

it'll work, just tighten it down hella hard and use some gasket sealant. If not, you need a Cobb DP. I don't know any others that use the donut gasket besides Cobb and OEM.

Tightening the bolts will do nothing to fix this leak, you're either going to need a 2.5''(donut gasket) adapter that mates to a 3'' flat flange, or hack the 2.5'' Cobb midpipe flange off, and weld a flat 3'' flange on. Welding a new flange is probably your best bet. It cost me like 60$ to do it at a local muffler shop, and most places charge 40+ just for the stupid 2.5'' adapter piece.

My bad. Was thinking the DP had the donut 2.5 and the cat back was 3in flat.

Most aftermarket downpipes will have a 3'' flat flange. Unfortunately a lot of aftermarket cat-back's run a 2.5'' midpipe flange to mate to the stock DP, such as the Cobb unit.

Right. I just kinda read and my mind went to the situation I was in when I had just a cat back that was full 3" and mated it to the stock DP. Guess I should have thought about it a bit more instead of just exhaust leak and donut to flat flange. lol

do you think that that adapter will work with my exhaust? I see it's a 3" to 2.5", my catback and downpipe are both 3"
