Did you have the block re-honed before putting in new pistons and rings?

how exactly did you break the ring lands? and sorry, not trying to bust your ***** but I havent seen a case where a ring land failed and didnt score the cyl wall, have any pics so we know the walls were salvageable without re-honing???

I'm sorry but with 35k on the motor you need to do a light hone on the walls to make sure you have proper ring seal. Even tho thr walls looked good I can imagine those ring will seal to great. New rings always need a light hone.

100% correct. The rings seat to the specific hone patter on the cylinder walls. Any time you replace rings, you absolutely need to at least do a light hone to give the new rings a fresh surface to seat against. Were the cylinders even checked for runout?

im not trying to argue with anyone. i sure a light hone would not hurt, but im just going by what i have done that works for me. im not saying i am the best engine builder. it there was scoring or light scratches on the walls then i would have honed ect.. not trying to say anything but i have not had a single engine come back by replacing piston and rings with no hone. thanks for the responces.
