rockin' my v6 '98 Sienna

...hailing from UCSC and 510 when at home!

Heya, got a warm welcome from the guys who met up at Milpitas Square by all the lovely boba shops (with subies to make it lovelier of course)! So first off, thanks for being chill with introducing new guys in!

As you can see in my profile the car I own is a true man's vehicle, but jokes aside my eventual goal is to get in the seat of an 04/05 Sti. I was wondering where would be a good place to start with Subies - at first I thought I wanted an 04/05 WRX hands down, but in the past week I've been rethinking of how appreciation for these things are truly built up and the last thing I want to do is disgrace a wonderful vehicle (That, and also insurance premiums are a lot higher since I am younger than 25 and I've been stick deprived so I don't trust myself with gears yet).

That all being said, I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion for a solid starting vehicle that would allow me to appreciate the WRX/Sti eventually... I really don't mind if the suggestion end up being another brand so as long as it is somewhat reliable as well (Honda/Toyota :P ). I've got 10k mustered up, I'm hoping to look in 8-9k range though.

Thanks ya'll, and wassup!

check Craigslist. There's always couple 04/05 WRXs in your price range.
...and yes! Subaru community is one of the chillest!

Specifically I'd check this thread, or better yet imo, hit up the meets (my vote here) and get some recommendations from those who go there, maybe even buy a ride off one of them. Route in retrospect I wish I took at any rate.

I learned stick (ish) on my brother's MR2, and then kinda had to relearn on my WRX - half a ton heavier, AWD drivetrain, funky 5MT one or more of the last owners launched the hell out of, it's a different beast. But it worked out for me, could very well work out for you.

Welcome to the fold, we're generally nice out here

Heh, I've been on that JavaBlk! Almost got one at 8.5k with some dings @ 89k but turns out the guy wasn't quite ready to sell and I haven't found hotter deals since :/

I appreciate the thoughtful image Heedz, totally what I initially felt when growing up and seeing really clean rides zoom zoom past me on my Razor scooter from Costco. Even more so now in my current ride. ;P

Thanks for the redirects de_engineered, I'll be reading through the links you've sent me now I was told that there's a Subie meet Wednesday nights near Marina by the Mission exit off of 880, is it this true, is that it? I'd totally visit that to learn more there. I've only had my hands on a Prelude and a 1990 Camry thus far, but if you went fresh on it and had it work out, that gives me hope!

Thank you all!

Not sure if my '98 Forest Green Sienna XLE could achieve such badassitude as those Previas... at least you can drift those

I'll go ahead now and put on those enchanted TRD stickers for that +15 HP gain.
