I own a 2001 2.5 rs and my scooby started to throw CEL's lately, it blinks for 20 seconds usually when i start the car and when the engine isn't warmed up other than that it stays on at all times.
When i got the codes checked it said that i had 1.) high rpm at idle 2.)Misfire in cylinder one 3.) Misfire in cylinder two
I changed all spark plugs thinking the misfiring would be due to bad plugs thus causing the higs rpms at idle (1000rpm)
At first the rpms did go down to 850 but after a day of driving they're back to 1000 and so is the CEL.
All i have is a cold air intake
i've bought the car used under a rebuilt title about a year and a half ago and the one year warranty from the dealer has expired.
don't know how to fix it and the CEL's are making me ill

I'd like a good mechanic as well! I moved from Denver to Chicago, and have twice taken my car to Mid-City Subaru. Both times I've had problems with getting things covered by my extended warranty because of "wording". By that I mean, the dealership says "fixed" when the warranty people only cover "replaced" items. Also, they were supposed to notify me when my power steering parts came it (covered by warranty after many calls by me), didn't hear from them after 3 weeks, called and they said, "Yeah, it's been here for two weeks. Didn't anyone call you?" So, stay away from Mid-City and post the name and address of a good mechanic!
Sorry to vent, I'd just like good service and great repair work like I got at the dealer in CO.

Plug wires are a good thing to check. Also remove the plug wires from the coil pack and look at the connection. They can get all corroded. Clean them up with a wire brush or emery paper and see if that helps. If not and the wires have been change I'd suspect the coil pack next. That's very easy to change out.
