I couldnt beleive it! I have been hunting, fishing, backpacking, hiking, and riding all over the western US for over 40 years and have never seen a big cat,, damn it was impressive! I deffinetly got a nice adrenalin rush. Needless to say the remainder of my ride I was a wee bit parinoid, especially riding solo.
BTW, the Auburn/Forest Hill trails are in outstanding condition. Virtually mud free and very fast

The only thing I would like about riding FDLT from the lower lot is finishing the ride with that sweet singletrack downhill as opposed to that nasty massive climb up drivers flat rd.

So I cleaned my bike last night. I should take a picture of the mud streak it left on the garage floor. There was an assload of mud, including some up in my rear caliper. I had to take the wheel off and clean in there, still didn't get it so I had to ride and drag the brake for about 50 ft to clean it out

Yeah I'm out for Saturday. I forgot that I have testing at Sac State on Saturday so I won't be able to ride.

I was planning to ride tomorrow too. Nobody wants to go ?

It was nice up there today. Dude, traffic on Auburn/Folsom sucks ***. I need to learn the area over there better I've done the drives out salmon falls how many times and I still can't find the damn road? I didn't even bother today and just went straight up to Auburn. Not again!

Not too much traffic up there today. Some people riding Clementine, one guy on a bike with two women jogging at Quarry (where I rode). One of the chicks was pretty cute, she pulled her shirt up (had a sports bra on) and showed off her AWESOME stomach. The trail was mostly dry, which was nice, though it was a bit overgrown. You could tell in some spots where there were some good rock slides and mosquitos were out in full force today. So was just about every other bug. I think I ate one of each . I felt WAY better riding today than I did on Saturday so hopefully I'll keep improving. I'm getting a tiny bit better at climbing.

Anyway..

From the parking lot:

The water was moving fast today:

I love it up here. Half the fun of being here is the accomplishment (for me) of the climb. It's not too steep, but it's a long climb and I can do it without rest :wiggle:

Matt, where is that Quarry place you rode. That looks pretty nice. I'd get owned on the climbing part, but I guess I would walk it like normal

It's down at the confluence below Auburn.

Basically - go to Auburn, get on 49 down in to the canyon, follow 49 like you're going to Cool. About half mile after you cross the river heading up to cool there is a parking lot to the left. Park in there, then head down the trail. You'll go downhill for a few minutes and then you'll come up to a small picnic area and a beefy climb. At the top of the hill, you'll notice you can either continue on straight, or make a uturn and head up yet more hill. You'll go up 2 switchbacks and open up in to this *****in quarry
