Maita Express Lube = Teh St00pid

I've been taking my car to Maita Express Lube since I got it, and their service has been pretty good so far... The price is even pretty reasonable, actually 10 bucks cheaper than Jiffy Lube if you bring your own oil (no oil change places even offer Mobil 1). Well, after waiting close to an hour for a guaranteed 30 minute oil change (i was told 30 minutes only applies to Toyota's) I get my car back. I look at the paperwork, and they actually let air out of my tires as part of their courtesy inspection... I guess the don't know that Y rated tires can safely run 38psi, and they set them to 32psi HOT. whatever, that's not too hard to fix. I hit an open stretch or road, get on it pretty hard, and hit 14psi max. I'm like WTF, I always hit right around 18 since my reflash. turns out they felt the need to disconnect the negative terminal on my battery to do a simple oil change and I lost all my knock correction and ignition advance learning.

It'll come back with learning but will take time. Can Nate set the IAM to max like Shiv does? This means that doing a reset will re-instate the map at full tune by default. Kevin probably can explain it better than I can.

Next time bring your Subaru by my shop. We use only Subaru replacement parts, can due the oil change in 30min or less and are mod friendly. We don't carry Mobil1 but due stock Redline products or Castrol. or supply your own oil.

Can't you do that trick where you drag the brakes up a freeway onramp to keep rmps a 4000 and boost a about 10psi for like 10 seconds right after an ECU reset to get the car to setup the advance?

Don't quote me on those numbers BTW, it's just something I remember reading a while back that Shiv said. Basically it emulates what they do on the dyno to step it up before tuning.

our company firewall blocks hotornot so I can't view the image. If someone saves and hosts it or e-mails me the link I'll check it out. Could be me - I was messing around with hot or not as a bet a while back, but I dunno since I can't see

Shiv's reset trick. It works, but it's tricky to do while driving. I found it difficult to watch the gauges and maneuver the throttle and brake at the same time. Still, if you've got some free time it's faster than letting the ECU learn on its own.

Anyone know if Shiv's trick works on a NA car too?

I mean, no boost, but can I do it to make my car learn quicker?

Thanks

P.S. I DO plan on coming to a meet again sometime soon...maybe this weekend!
