Check out the car fire Kevin rolled up on last night. Since there's a bunch of farm land around here, thiefs will drop the car on one of the acess roads away from the houses and light it on fire:

Tastes like burning:

2 miles or so. He left around 3:15 when Josey got home. The car fire was up where most of them usually are (about 30 feet from this fire is the shell of a burned out early 90s Prelude). From our house, just keep going up San Juan across El Centro and it was on the left before Garden Hwy.

Was kinda cool watching FD come out. They (unlike the worthless *** cops in this area) showed up in just a couple minutes and were real non-chalant about it. They got out and it was like "ho-hum, a car fire..water, water, water" I was waiting to see one of em fall asleep while they were doing it. I'm not saying they were lazy, just good at what they do - seems like this was total ease for them

Insurance scam?

My brother decided to do this to his own civic a few years ago and almost got into some SERIOUS trouble. Unfortunately he decided not to take out any of his belongings. He even left about $300 bucks in clothes that were mine.

What a nice brother.

I use to work with a fire fighter and he said that car fires were really common out in the fields away from houses. normally what happens he said is that they will steal the car strip it then set it on fire, drive off and wait about 40 mins then call the FD. If you call the FD to fast they can still ID the car and get evidence from it. So if you wanted to do insurance fraud you would want to call early so they could still ID the car.

But that is what the FF said to do not me

Yeah, a few years ago I knew this guy (through work) that was in to stealing cars and stuff (real good guy ). He said they would steal the car, strip it clean, then wipe it down with some type of mix of some acid and a salt to get off any fingerprints and stuff, file down the VINs then drop it somewhere and fire it up.

The firefighters last night said the car fires (from theft) are pretty common the closer you get to the river.
