Try it out once with the 4EAT, it should be fine out there on the track. The VTD will be nice too.

I think Steve is refering to the VTD or Variable Torque Distribuition that came on the GC/GM 2.5RS & WRX 4EATs. It gives your car a 45/55 torque split rather then non-VTD 4EATs which are generally 90/10.

And VDC is a whole different thing completely. Only available on the H6-VDC Outbacks.

I could have sworn that VTD was only in WRX or Legacy 4EATs.

That, and IMO 4EAT is useless on a road course, because it is so much more difficult to keep the power in the turns. That, and the 4EAT gear ratios suck. Wait 'till I get my RA gears in with 4.44 drive Mwahahahhahaha.

Oh, and I don't have the $ for brake pads, a fwesh set of Azenis for the 16"s and misc fluids and whatnot that I'd want to do before the track day, as well as track fees and cash for the drive. I so want to run, but I worry about breaking my daily driver hard

You may be right about Impreza's. I just assumed that the pre-WRX 2.5RS had the VTD, but I'm not 100% sure. As for Legacys, I can vouch that the Ls don't have VTD, but maybe the GT or GT Limited's do.

RS's did not have VTD, Legacys also don't have VTD. The WRX was the first application in this country.

Correction, the non-VDC H6 does have a VTD tranny.
And of course, the VDC does not have VTD becuase the VDC is a weird hybrid traction coontrol system integrated intot he AWD setup.

Was Steve talking about the Viscous Center Diff, that doesn't exist on automatics becuase 4EAT's are electronically torque-split instead of hydraulically?

A viscous center only exists on the manual cars.

And yeah, Josh, a 4EAT with our ratios sucks all *** for spirited driving, becuase it doesn't like downshifting to second from high speeds, causing problems on corner exits (either that, or you slow down enough to get it into second and then you're getting passed by much slower cars)

You'll also cook brakes like nothing, since you have no engine braking......

I'm "tehDoink" on the SECCS server. MY cable modem went down last night shortly after posting the "server is up" post. Everything should still be up and running, but I didn't get to add everyone's names.
