South bay/ Santa Cruz Day-Drive feeler
I see they have been running a large drive up north bay, and id like to try to create that for the south bay. Ive driven a lot of the roads and think ive found a fun route.
This route is intermediate to advanced, in the scheme of tight turns, and small roads.
Starting at Starbucks/Blockbuster/Jamba Juice center on EL MONTE in MOUNTAIN VIEW (reason i say start here, theres a large parking lot, food coffee and juice for people to grab before drive...etcc
Once we have our "crowd" gathered Planned route is as follows:
82 West *El Camino*
(Left turn) Page Mill Expressway(W)
-Intersection of Page mill/35*Skyline*/Alpine road
We can do 1 of two things, depending on how long people want to drive.
Short Route:
(Left Turn) 35 *Skyline* (S)
(Left Turn) 9 (E)
Continue on 9
Enter Highway 17 N
OR
Long Route:
Continue on Alpine Road(W)
Small exit, (Left Turn) Pescadero rd(W)
Continue til Highway 1
(Left Turn) Highway 1 (S)
Take 1 to Santa cruz (THIS WILL TAKE ATLEAST 2 HOURS) ... unless we are hauling ***
Visit SC, drink etc....
Take 17 (N)
17 North
(Left) Merge to 85 N
Finish at De Anza college (or someone pick a better place, i dont know where to end it....)
Hows it sound? any ideas?

that would be cool, except the long route->alpine road is pretty small and would create too much negative attention with the neighbors and eventually the sheriff/CHP.
but yeah this would be fun

I drive on Alpine during the weekdays once and a while and I love it, too.
Great for 1 or 2 cars or maybe 3, but 20 is probably way too much to be fun, especially on the weekend when other cars are out and about.
An alternative to Alpine (while keeping to roads good for 20 cars or so) I'd suggest 4 corners > west on La Honda > South on Pescadero > North on 1 > East on Tunitas Creek > then back on South on 35 (Skyline) to 9, etc. etc.

yeah lets not do alpine, i dont want a big meet to ruin my solo fun in the future. im already breaking the golden rule by posting road names
we'll stay on the roads with an actual yellow line painted on them lol

What about this? Just an idea...
Starting at Starbucks/Blockbuster/Jamba Juice center on EL MONTE in MOUNTAIN VIEW (reason i say start here, theres a large parking lot, food coffee and juice for people to grab before drive...etcc
Drive up to El monte to Foothill exp then up past Stevens Creek Res
rt turn onto hwy 9
rt turn onto Skyline maybe a stop at the look out point
forward to Alice's for a group lunch or the store for a drink
or hit up San Gregorio beach for bbq end it there or drive back together down Page Mill from Skyline
something of this nature..

i think were all on the same page and it sounds cool, anytime is good for me as long as its after the 25th ( on the 25th is ok too) because thats when i get back in the bay area. i was the one that started the thread about the 25th meet, but if everyone wants, we can combine and have a meet drive.
