Redwood Rendezvous taking a year hiatus
Between blowing up my motor and several other obligations I'm facing right now, I don't think I'll be able to put together the sort of Redwood Rendezvous Road Rally adventure that I'd like to, so its probably not going to happen this year.
That isn't to say that there won't be a chance to do a road/camping trip- just that there's no way I can see myself getting yet another rally written and checked in time.
There are two trips I'd like to do before the end of the year though, one north to drive the Usal road and visit the most remote parts of the lost coast, maybe camping out in Petrolia or somewhere out that way- and another "geology field trip" south to the San Benito Mountains- New Idria mining district and Clear Creek.
Let me know if you'd like to come along on one or both of these and if you are interested- what weekends would be good for you.

Hey Pete,
I don't need to be having a rally just to get me up there. Christina and i have been looking forward to a good camp out. I'll have to check on my "off-road" tires and see about fixing that one flat. Other then that i don't see a problem. Just as long as you pick a weekend that isn't already been reserved for something else.

The local minerologists suggest staying out of Clear Creek until the rainy season starts, too much raw asbestos there, and the hazard from dust inhalation is supposedly quite severe.
I need to get one of my cars together, which might be a couple weeks yet, but I'd like to do the North Coast trip sooner rather than later I think.
I'll update this thread as plans develop.

I'll see your link and raise it:

Asbestos hazard seems to be a pretty contentious/controversial matter, I guess the bush administrations EPA considers it a hazard only if it is naturally occurring....

Bush thinks EPA stands for "Efficiently Plugged A$$es", meaning, he's constantly screwing us over. He knows/cares less about the environment than most third world countries. If it makes Halliburton more money, he's all over it.

Gruppe-S was too busy, so LIC is getting the job this time (although they are pretty busy too) and it won't be a new motor, but at least it will be a lot closer to new than the old one was, it lasted just under 163,000 miles.

OK so I said I might do something, I sent out a PM a week ago and so far have one car signed up to come along- this Sunday.
Route is still TBD, but PM me if you want to join us.
This will be a moderatly brisk paced drive with several scenic breaks included.
Whether or not we venture off the pavement depends on who decides to come along and what their preferences are...
