Has anyone seen this?
Subaru Impreza, WRX Models to Diverge - Motor Trend
It's pretty much just rumors and i know the pic is just a photoshop, but it's interesting to see that they might end up going with a 1.6 liter w/ turbo and re-enter the wrc in the near future.
and I don't about the twin-charger, sounds pretty iffy.

And the reason Subaru pulled out of WRC is because the new regulations state that the engine configuration must be a inline four, nothing else. Of course Subaru could build a inline 4 and use it in their race car, but that would defeat the ideals of Subaru with the flat 4 in the STI. Even if you win races with a inline 4 there's no honor in offering a completely different engine to consumers, because you can't say that the engine is what stands it apart from the competition like Subaru could in the 90's and early 2000's.
It's like saying that the Scion tC built by Rockstar for drifting with a NASCAR V8 as it's powerplant is the reason people buy the tC. Frankenstein'ing a production car for a racing series is not what people look for in factory performance.

i was told by an instructor that was close to someone at toyota. (*blah blah blah*) scion was developed for the younger croud. the ones who want to compete with hondas and everyother brand who has a semi economic style sporty looking car. basically the 16-24 age group. (no offence to anyone who has a car that falls into that category) so young people see that you can do something crazy like that and see how he has a crazy wide body on it and they want to do that sort of thing... in a way it IS a form of marketing but i get what your saying...
